About the Company
Our client is a leading privately-owned Building Services Consultancy, renowned for their commitment to excellence and innovation. They are expanding their team and are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their dynamic offices in Nottingham and Leeds.
This is a permanent position offering a fantastic opportunity to enhance your existing skills and knowledge of mechanical services. You will be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team, including Building Services Designers, Revit Technicians, Building Physicists, and Document Controllers. Your work will span a variety of projects across numerous market sectors, from feasibility studies to fully coordinated design for installation purposes (RIBA stages 0 to 5).
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver coordinated design in collaboration with colleagues from various disciplines
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current industry regulatory and design standards
- Supervise and mentor junior engineering staff and apprentices, providing clear guidance and direction
- Ensure QA documents, designs, and drawings meet our client's standards prior to issuance
- Liaise professionally with clients, professional teams, contractors, and staff at all levels
- Lead small mixed-discipline teams in project delivery
- Attend client, design team, and project meetings
- Conduct feasibility studies and surveys
- Prepare load calculations and apply for utility connections
- Produce detailed mechanical services designs
- Review sub-contractor design drawings and technical submissions
- Perform site quality and legislative inspections and prepare associated reports
- Utilise industry design guides, British Standards, and Building Regulations
- Assist with setting design strategy
Preferred Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Professional Membership (desirable)
- Degree or HNC/D in a relevant subject or equivalent
- Experience in a similar role
- Proficient with relevant industry design software
- Excellent time management and organisational skills with a flexible attitude
- Team player with the ability to operate independently
