The Role


As a Principal Recruitment Consultant, you will lead and develop a team responsible for sourcing niche contract professionals across the EMEA region. As part of the senior management team, you will be involved in hiring, managing, and training consultants while also maintaining your personal client base.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Oversee the recruitment, training, and ongoing development of your team, focusing on niche positions. Responsibilities include business development training, candidate management, offer negotiation, sales training, and marketing material development.
  • Build and manage a portfolio of clients using traditional market approaches, networking, sales presentations, and marketing initiatives.
  • Act as a fee-generating consultant responsible for sourcing industry professionals, introducing them to prospective clients, managing the interview process, negotiating offers, and closing deals.
  • Engage in industry and government forums, networking with industry professionals to develop new revenue streams for the group.
  • Maintain contact with past placements to ensure client and candidate satisfaction and secure the organisation’s revenue.
  • Provide market intelligence, salary reviews, and leadership reviews to prospective clients.
  • Train and develop junior employees and management teams, setting revenue targets and KPIs while motivating and coaching.
  • Develop company sales strategies to attract new clients and enhance existing partnerships.
  • Lead client presentations and negotiations related to partnership renewals, resource enablement programmes, and closing individual deals.
  • Oversee internal financial materials and forecasts, ensuring the executive team is fully informed about business performance and potential risks.
  • Approve, train, and disseminate new practices and processes across the organisation.
  • Liaise with the executive team on performance, new business strategies, vendor opportunities, and market trends.


Key Competencies and Skills Required:


  • 3-6 years of experience in the recruitment industry, focusing on a contract desk within an agency setting (not in-house).
  • Experience in similar sectors is ideal but not essential: Sustainability, Infrastructure, Natural Resources, Power, Renewable Energy.
  • Proven management and mentoring experience of a team of at least four fee-generating recruiters.
  • A track record of fee generation exceeding £225,000 per year with a reputable recruitment firm.
  • Strong communication skills at various levels of authority, including presentations to management committees and board meetings.
  • A team player capable of collaborating with subject matter experts and stakeholders to identify and resolve issues.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset: naturally competitive, goal-driven, curious, and eager to learn.
  • A natural mentor/leader who fosters a high-performing and collaborative environment.
  • Permanent working rights in the UK are required.
