Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain existing DataStage services working with product owners and support production incidents according to priority.

• Design, develop, and test ETL processes using IBM DataStage, DB2 and SQL.

• Ensure all developments are tested and deployed whilst using automation where possible.

• Version and store all development artefacts in the agreed repository.

• Ensure all data are catalogued and appropriate documentation is created and maintained for all ETL code and associated NFR’s

• Collaborate with the product owner (Data) to understand the requirements and capabilities

• Collaborate with the team lead / lead architect to agree the delivery strategy

• Participate in the teams agile planning and delivery process to ensure work is delivered in line with the Product Owners priorities

• Create low level designs for Epics and Stories and where required, support the lead architect to create the designs to enable the realization of the customer requirements and data warehouse while ensuring scalability, security by design, ease of use and high availability & reliability.

• Identify the key capabilities needed for success and the technology choices, coding standards, testing techniques and delivery approach to deliver reliable data services.

• Keen to learn emerging technologies to keep abreast of new or better ways of delivering the Data ETL techniques.


Summary:

The business is currently supported by multi-layered technology services that have been established over the last 30-40 years to serve customers, manufacturers and repair agents to help protect and repair their domestic appliances. This one-billion-pound business currently resides & operates on predominantly IBM DB2, AIX Power Series legacy platforms alongside an evolving business transformation to cloud technology-powered product business serving customers around the world. Our products and services rely heavily on compelling digital experiences for our B2B and B2C clients and customers. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Datastage / IBM DB2 developer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with normalised and unstructured databases with knowledge of modern data warehouse model techniques, strong skills in ETL / DataStage / DB2 /SQL with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders to work on production incidents on existing on-prem systems plus being confident in helping refinement of user stories and deliver new requirements through required testing phases through to implementation and support model.


Systems Knowledge:

• Excellent knowledge of IBM DataStage

• IBM DB2 and SQL

• TWS Scheduler

• Unix Shell scripting

• Experience with on-prem data technologies from IBM or other providers.

• Problem resolution, release management and ad hoc support requests

• Integration, MI, analytics, and data science related activity

• Digital and other product related activity

• Any other tasks that match the skill set and role profile


Skills & Competencies:

• Experience with IBM based technologies for data management

• Solid communication skills and expertise to translate technical jargon into business familiar language

• Data design, modelling, and analysis skills

• Ability to quickly explore, examine and understand complex problems and how these relate to the customer’s business

• Adaptable, able to quickly switch between projects, demands and environments.

• Stakeholder management and business awareness skills, ability to understand and interpret customer problems and navigate complex organisations.

• Excellent mathematical and problem-solving skills.

• Technical knowledge related to data services, patterns and the ability elaborate stories, write acceptance criteria, and create detailed designs.

• Deliver clear and concise supporting documentation.


Data Quality Management:

• Big data, data management and data warehouse

• Test automation skills

• ETL/ELT tools and creating common data sets across on-prem IBM

• Separation between real-time operational data stores and analytics

• Data security best practices and building data platforms with security standards baked in

• Data protection, data fidelity and data integrity techniques and regulation

• Ability to work in rapid sprints with short deployment lifecycles

• Having held an expert development role in IBM data management for at least 3 years working with IBM data management technologies. Experience with use of IBM on-prem data technologies like DataStage, MDM, RDM, Operational Data stores

• Working with business stakeholders to build and deliver modern data platforms

• Experience working with Data Engineers, DevOps and other engineers in a dynamic environment to promote and implement the Data Platform across D+G

• Campaign management, Customer databases and segregation of data sets based on access rules

• Agile methods and techniques


Desirable:

• Experience with AWS based technologies and data engineering for data management

• Microservices based designs using standard technologies that can be delivered with readily available skills

• Mentoring and leading developers as needed

• Product-led delivery model

• An understanding of the latest trends and their role in a commercial environment

• Environment management, code, and data management

• Integration in loosely coupled architecture, and using stubs for testing

• Working with DevOps

• Insurance and warranties business and associated regulation

• PAAS and SAAS based data management tools and integration with them

• Experience with cloud microservices technologies

• Financial services or insurance industry experience

• Experience in product led ways of working

• Relevant certifications
