The service you will work in….

The Oremi Day Centre service delivers person-centered and holistic support to service users, aged over 18, who have a severe and/or enduring mental health need and living in Westminster and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea which includes targeted services to service users from African, Caribbean and Arabic speaking heritage. Our service enables users to avoid, and in particular to reduce the need for, prolonged hospital admissions and long-term dependency on mental health services.

We promote recovery and prevent social exclusion among service users with mental health support needs and offer a wide range of group activities that are tailored to the service users' needs. Group activities are run by our in-house team of experienced and trained Group Facilitators, by sessional tutors and in co-production with service users. The overall aim of support provision is preventing hospital admissions and facilitating earlier discharge, promoting recovery, social inclusion and helping service users to maximise their independence and wellbeing, access to employment, training.

A day in this role looks like….

As a Senior Group Facilitator at Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our Mental Health and Complex Needs service. Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path of empowerment and independence.

A day will never look the same and some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible for are:

  • Support the running and developing the day center under direction of the Group Activities Coordinator.
  • Provide management support and advice to Group Facilitators, Volunteers, Social Work Students to help them develop their role in providing support to service users.
  • Be responsible for the empowerment and well-being of service users, using person-centred planning and Recovery Approaches, a key-work system to enable them to attain and sustain a tenancy, enjoy a good quality of life, and avoid repeat hospital admissions.
  • Support the Group Activities Coordinator to oversee performance related to the contract including KPIs.
  • Ensure that service users are able to attend and participate in a range of socially inclusive activities and skills development opportunities.
  • To advise on health services, education, training, and employment opportunities.
  • To develop and maintain a rolling programme of group activities using data from needs assessments, consultations, and local/national recovery programmes.
  • To ensure that specific services and activities are provided to meet the needs of services users, including African, Caribbean and Arabic speaking users.
  • Support the Group Activities Coordinator to oversee staff recruitment, induction, supervise and appraise staff, identify training needs, manage the disciplinary and grievance procedures, and ensure that all tasks are carried out within Hestia's policies, procedures, and good practice guides.
  • To be responsible for maintaining the health and safety of the building including undertaking daily, weekly & monthly checks within the premises.

  • Demonstrable experience of working with people who have experienced mental ill health and complex support needs.
  • Good knowledge of implementing and delivering a co-production model of involvement with users in a mental health setting.
  • Experience of providing high quality day services; including compliance with health and safety.
  • Knowledge of methods of assessing, formulating, implementing, recording, reviewing, and monitoring person-centred support and assessment plans.
  • Motivation to maintain professional standards at all times within the service and ability to use peer and management support to maintain resilience and provide a whole team approach.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexibly, including some out of hours working during the evenings and weekends.
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and ability to address them appropriately.
  • Experience of working with referral agencies to ensure that all referrals to the service are acknowledged, assessed, allocated to appropriate support workers, reviewed, and closed within agreed time frames.
