Main Purpose of the Role

Working within Syndicated Finance, you will support the bank's international (primarily European) loan origination efforts. As a member of Structured Corporate Finance, you’ll work closely with relationship managers and other product groups to produce and present analysis to corporate clients. You will assist in transaction execution on an ad hoc basis as necessary. You will also assist in leading and developing a team of junior analysts that Support Syndicated Finance.


Key Activities and Key Competencies

In Structured Debt Finance, the focus is on financing structures for corporate clients, particularly relating to transformational transactions, such as M&A events. Required competences include but are not limited to:

  • Creation of customer-specific financial models.
  • Evaluation of public information, research, transaction related materials and due diligence.
  • A detailed understanding of the rating methodologies used by public rating agencies, such as S&P and Moody’s.
  • Production of marketing material, including pitch books containing bespoke analysis, market intelligence and input from other product areas.
  • Develop ideas and solutions based on guidance from senior originators.
  • Become familiar with the fundamental components of syndicated loans (pricing, documentation, security etc.) so these can be considered in structuring analysis.
  • Use credit analysis skills to support the Risk function throughout a deal process.
  • Co-ordination of the contributions from different stakeholders in order to offer a broad range of financing options.
  • Develop good relationships with London colleagues and foster collaboration with other European branches.
  • Work with junior members of the team to develop their knowledge and capabilities.


Key Requirements (Work Experience/Formal Education)

  • Sufficient years of professional experience, preferably in a relevant area (e.g. Leveraged Finance, Portfolio Management, Corporate Finance, Restructuring or Credit)
  • Good level of competency in financial modelling and credit analysis
  • Broad industry knowledge with an ability to cover all sectors
  • An understanding of debt capital markets with a familiarity of the European loan market
  • Knowledge of loan documentation (experience with M&A transactions a plus)
