Legal & General is a leading UK financial services group and major global investor. We’ve been safeguarding people’s financial futures since 1836, aiming to build a better society for the long term by investing our customers’ money in things that make life better for everyone and create value for our shareholders.
Our Group Functions provide the services that all areas of the business need. This requires a talented and diverse team behind the scenes, who enable everyone at L&G to do what they do best.
Joining us means helping to improve the lives of our customers and contributing to the success of the business every day.
In Group Technology, we want to help you develop, both professionally and personally, which is why everyone gets at least 12 training days every year. You get to pick what you do, as long as it’s broadly relevant to our work or purpose. You also get to be part of a community of people with similar skills and interests, so there’s always someone to help. We know our people thrive when they’re doing interesting work and succeeding, so we will stretch you on both ‘what’ you deliver and ‘how’ you deliver it. You’ll have regular performance conversations with your manager, but we’ll also empower you to be personally accountable to achieve great results for yourself, your team, Group Technology and our customers.
We are looking for an Azure Product Owner to join us in London, Hove or Cardiff
You'll partner with the Head of Product Management to help deliver the strategic cloud vision across our technology estate. You'll also play a key role to influence the product vision and feature level roadmap, transforming it into a user story backlog which can be consumed and implemented by the engineering team.
If you're looking for a role where you'll be supported in your professional development and a fantastic career path then this could be the ideal next move for you
What you'll be doing:
- Defining and managing an innovative and customer-focused product backlog, balancing desired customer outcomes, continuous improvements with technical debt in line with Group requirements
- Setting the sprint goals and negotiating the scope of the sprint backlog with the development team and Scrum Master in line with agreed project plans and business requirements.
- Participating in various team ceremonies including Refinement where you are responsible for driving and ensuring backlog items are effectively refined and sized once a shared understanding has been reached by the development team
- Continually prioritising the backlog ensuring that the development team’s focus is always on delivering the most business value whilst integrating ongoing customer feedback into the process
- Continuously communicating the Product Roadmap to various levels of stakeholders across our business and communicating the release of product increments. Using the roadmap to help motivate the development team by providing clear strategic intent across the Group
- Engaging and collaborating with the wider Group Technology teams to deliver automated solutions that will replace legacy manual processes and ensuring delivery of best-in-class customer experiences in line with company requirements
- Managing product and delivery risks to ensure that there is appropriate and effective governance in place, supported by appropriate reporting or MI
Who we're looking for:
- Experience of managing a technical product backlog and roadmap for a cloud native development team is key
- Good knowledge of Azure
- Experience working in an Agile environment (ideally SAFe)
- A good understanding of modern cloud native development, testing and Agile delivery processes, tools, and frameworks
- Any experience of working with remote teams comprised of vendor-supplied people and permanent people would be a huge plus
- Previous experience working in a financial services/regulated environment would be great
Whatever your role, we reward performance and behaviour with a package that looks after all the things that are important to you. Here are some of the benefits we offer:
- The opportunity to participate in our annual, performance-related bonus plan and valuable share schemes
- Generous pension contribution
- Life assurance
- Private medical insurance (permanent employees only)
- At least 25 days holiday, plus public holidays, 26 days after 2 years’ service. There’s also the option to buy and sell holiday
- Competitive family leave
- Participate in our electric car scheme, which offers employees the option to hire a brand-new electric car through tax efficient salary sacrifice
- There are the many discounts we offer – both for our own products and at a range of high street stores and online
- In 2023, some of our workspaces were redesigned. Our offices are great spaces to connect and collaborate and have your wellbeing at the heart

We aim to build a better society for the long term by investing our customers’ money in things that make life better for everyone.
If you join us, you’ll be part of a welcoming culture, with opportunities to collaborate with people of diverse backgrounds, views and experiences. Guided by leaders with integrity who care about your future and wellbeing. Empowered through initiatives which support people to develop their careers and excel.
We strive to be open, mindful and inclusive, so are always willing to discussing flexible working arrangements and reasonable accommodations for candidates with specific needs.
