What you’ll be doing:

  • Perform calibrations & repairs on a wide variety of Dimensional test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE) in line with contractual turnaround times
  • Deliver on the job training to ICS Dimensional team members and apprentices/graduates
  • Contribute to calibration procedures and measurement uncertainty budgets wherever required
  • Professional communication with technical stakeholders on instrumentation/calibration topics, including consultation on new measurement technologies

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Experience working in a precision Dimensional Calibration/metrology or closely related field
  • Understanding of quality systems & standards (ISO 17025/ISO 9001)
  • Relevant academic qualification (STEM Degree, HNC/HND) or equivalent

Desirable:

  • Understanding of measurement uncertainty budgets / experience writing uncertainty budgets
  • Experience in use of automation software (PC Dimis, Fluke Metcal, Met/Track, Met/Teams, Labview)
  • Experience in Mechanical, Electrical, Temperature and other engineering calibrations

The ICS Dimensional team:

The Calibration department currently supports 30,000 pieces of equipment per year, ranging from traditional analogue equipment through to state-of-the-art digital systems. ICS Dimensional Laboratory focuses on the calibration, maintenance, and repair of TMDE capable of making length, flatness, parallelism, surface roughness, angular, optical, screw gauge (1D) and CMM (3D) measurements. ICS Dimensional consists of around 8+ team members. ICS Dimensional sits alongside various other teams within the overall Calibration department, consisting of 50+ team members. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
