The Role

As part of the Senior Leadership team, the Director of Finance Operations will lead the financial operation of the Group of companies to execute the company strategy and support business growth.

You will manage all financial matters, providing an environment of strong governance and control, with processes that enable agile planning and meet the demands of a progressive business in a dynamic sector.

Your areas of responsibility include financial control, reporting, planning and analysis, tax, and treasury. As the Finance Operations Director, you will be responsible for enhancing the structure so that it facilitates collaboration, and growth of the team with defined career progression and development opportunities.


What you will be doing?

  • Create a transparent and rigorous financial control function that can facilitate the continued scaling up of the business, ensuring a 'no surprises' reporting environment
  • Deliver accurate and timely Group wide financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders
  • Oversee the Group wide short- and long-term planning cycles ensuring there is tight budgetary control, highlighting risks and opportunities on a monthly basis
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory obligations including audit, tax, payment practices and covenant reporting
  • Engage with business leaders to ensure clear and transparent communication and financial understanding across the Senior Leadership Team (SLT)
  • Effectively manage the treasury function, supporting the Board and SLT with investment and development planning
  • Own the Company’s foreign exchange requirements including the identification and management of currency exposure
  • Oversee the analysis of financial data to provide actionable insights for business decisions.
  • Apply commercial and business knowledge to advise on the financial and risk implications of decisions
  • Identify and implement tax efficient strategies, advising the Board of potential risks and opportunities
  • Manage day to day financial operations including approvals, accounting, cash, and cost review
  • Oversee financial impact of commercial decisions, identifying and mitigating risk
  • Influence behaviours across the business to create a culture of strong financial discipline
  • Support the Board with commercial decision making
  • Ensure finance policies are maintained and in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Effectively manage the Finance team, enhancing the structure as required to facilitate growth providing defined career progression and development opportunities.
  • Work across functions to integrate systems, processes, and controls to drive efficiency and productivity and create an agile and scalable business environment

What is needed?

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/ACMA) or equivalent
  • Extensive experience working in a Financial Controller level position
  • Strong leadership qualities and will have the personality and gravitas to be an effective influencer across all levels of the organisation
  • Breadth of first-hand financial knowledge including accounting, governance, planning, internal controls, executive level reporting
  • Demonstrable experience of developing a high performing function.
  • Industry relevant experience
  • Experience of a fast growth environment with high transaction volumes and an international footprint
  • •Proven analytical skills and evidence of a strong commercial grounding
  • Previously implemented or enhanced a best practice financial control environment
