What’s the purpose of role:

Responsible for ensuring efficient and effective financial control, reporting, budgeting and forecasting for multiple business units in the North. Partnering with Regional Operations Director to monitor performance and drive efficiency.


Who you’ll deal with:

Internal: BAU Finance Leadership, Unit & Regional Operations, Operational Improvement, Commercial, Sales, Central Finance, Procurement and Central Support Functions


What you’ll be doing:

  • Setting, monitoring, maintenance, and improvement of operational & financial KPI's.
  • Continually improve the quality, accuracy and timeliness of financial information to key stakeholders
  • Prepare forecast/budgets and present with full explanation key movements to FD and Ops Director
  • Ownership of the production of accurate monthly regional P&L, supported by regional Centre of Excellence
  • Ownership of the region balance sheet and oversight of high-quality reconciliations provided by CoE
  • Coordinate the closure of the operational month end accounts to the set deadline
  • Ensure that all operational month end accounts are accurate provide a full understanding of any deviations from flash /budget and any future impacts of current deviations
  • Ensure all internal/external weekly, monthly and quarterly financial reports are complete and accurate prior to submission
  • Continually challenge the financial results with regional and unit operational management.
  • Support the identification of operational efficiency and cash generating opportunities, assist with cost control and cost reduction projects, with a key focus on labour & COGS efficiency.
  • Support Operational Management with the preparation and delivery of Regional Business/Ops Plan.
  • Ensure all financial processes are adhered to
  • Assist in commercial reviews, providing financial evaluation and support
  • Collate, challenge and report the effects of any disruption to the business immediately to aid fast decision making to reduce EBITDA effect
  • Assist in Capex budgeting, forecasting and preparation.
  • Preparation of business cases to support investment decisions and produce post investment appraisals monitoring the impact of these investments.
  • Deal with ad-hoc financial queries from Units as and when required
  • Lead and develop the regional Finance team.
  • Lead and support for projects as required.
  • Deputise for the BAU FD as required.

What you’ll have:

  • Hold a professional Qualification in ACCA, CIMA or ACA or be in the process of achieving final accreditation.
  • Minimum 3+ years Finance Management experience
  • Strong management accounting and analytical skills are essential
  • Excellent analytical skills, ability to manipulate complex data, generating actionable insight
  • A track record of providing insightful reporting
  • A proven record of supporting business improvement
  • Be commercially astute, with a proven record of driving financial performance with key stakeholders
  • Have a track record of supporting the delivery of profit improvement plans
  • Experience in finance support for unit projects
  • Advanced Excel skills, and systems experience with SAP
  • A proactive approach and a collaborative attitude
  • Ability to build business relationships and interact with internal customers, with the ability to solve problems
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Fluent in English, oral & written
