Lead Web Developer
We’re on the lookout for an experienced Lead Web Developer to join a dynamic and growing development team. This is an exciting opportunity to take the reins on web development projects, build scalable web components, and help shape the direction of the technical stack. You’ll be leading a small team of 3-4 developers, providing guidance, support, and direction throughout the project lifecycle. This role is perfect for someone with strong technical skills and a passion for leadership, who thrives in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead Web Development Projects:
- Take the lead on building, structuring, and scaling web components and websites from the ground up. You'll be the go-to technical expert on all web development tasks, ensuring high-quality code and seamless user experiences.
Team Leadership:
- Manage, mentor, and guide a small team of developers, helping them progress through their projects and ensuring that technical best practices are followed. You'll be responsible for overseeing the development process and ensuring all milestones are hit.
Full Stack Development:
- Work across the full stack, focusing on front-end (JS, HTML, CSS) and back-end development. You’ll have a strong focus on building web components that integrate seamlessly into the larger system.
CMS Expertise:
- Collaborate with the team to build websites on various CMS platforms. You don’t need to be tied to any specific CMS, as the team is open to using whatever platform best suits the project’s needs.
Tech Stack Building:
- Help define, build, and evolve custom tech stacks and component libraries, working alongside other developers to create scalable solutions. As the lead, you’ll help set the technical direction and ensure that the development environment is efficient and optimised.
Key Requirements:
Proven Web Development Experience:
- Strong hands-on experience with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. You should be confident building entire websites and complex web components from scratch, without relying on frameworks like React.
Leadership Skills:
- Previous experience leading or mentoring small development teams. You’ll need to be confident in guiding other developers, providing technical direction, and overseeing project delivery.
Full Stack Understanding:
- Ability to work on both front-end and back-end development, with particular experience in integrating web components into CMS platforms. You should be comfortable working across all stages of the development process.
CMS Experience:
- Experience with any popular CMS (WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, or other custom platforms) is essential. You should be comfortable working with CMS back-ends, managing content, and creating custom functionalities as needed.
Independent and Collaborative:
- Able to work autonomously while also being an excellent team player. You’ll have the flexibility to make key decisions while collaborating closely with the team on technical strategies.
Why Join?
Leadership Opportunity:
- This is a chance to step into a lead role where you can influence the direction of the projects and the technical approach. You’ll have the autonomy to make decisions and guide the team forward.
Small, Agile Team:
- With just 3-4 developers on the team, you’ll be working in a close-knit, collaborative environment where your input will have a direct impact on the outcome of each project.
Innovative Projects:
- Get involved in building custom tech stacks, web components, and entire websites. This role offers variety, autonomy, and the chance to work on cutting-edge web development.
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong experience in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Leadership experience in a web development environment.
- Expertise with CMS platforms (any CMS you’ve worked with).
- Ability to build full websites and complex components independently.
- A collaborative mindset, ready to mentor and guide a small team of developers.
