Senior Associate - Masterplanning at Leading Architecture Practice in London


Are you an experienced Masterplanner with a passion for creating vibrant, unique environments? A renowned architecture practice with over 65 years of history is seeking an Associate Director - Masterplanning to join their dynamic London studio. This is a unique opportunity to lead and shape international projects, particularly in the Middle East and Africa, while working in a collaborative, design-focused team.


About the Role: As an Associate Director in the Masterplanning team, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality environments for a variety of global clients. Your expertise will help shape projects that reflect a strong sense of identity and place, ensuring each design meets the aspirations of clients and end-users alike. You'll work closely with the Practice Principal and Directors, focusing on expanding the studio's international reach and fostering collaboration between urbanism and architectural units.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage complex masterplanning projects with a focus on international markets, especially the Middle East and Africa.
  • Understand and navigate diverse cultural contexts and regional planning processes.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering a culture of creativity and innovation.
  • Develop new markets and client relationships, expanding the practice's portfolio.
  • Integrate urbanism and architectural elements to create cohesive, inspiring places.
  • Utilize industry-leading software and workflows to enhance project efficiency.
  • Promote the practice through professional networks and social media, increasing visibility and engagement.


What You'll Bring:

  • In-depth knowledge of the Middle Eastern market and its cultural and design contexts.
  • Strong management skills, including delegation, organization, and leadership of large teams.
  • Proficiency in industry software and a keen understanding of efficient workflows.
  • Ability to travel internationally and coordinate with remote teams.
  • Expertise in managing consultant teams, tracking scope changes, and mitigating project risks.
  • Creativity in hand sketching masterplans and communicating urban design solutions.
