Lead Electrical Design Engineer – £70 to £90K + Package + Bonus.

Apart from a huge increase in salary, joining the inhouse design team of a D&B Contractor has many other advantages. You’ll get to see your projects beyond just RIBA Stages 2-4, you’ll enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, you’ll develop your commercial skills, and you’ll also develop your Design Management and Project Management skills.


Here, you won’t be relying on manufacturers to do your calculations for you. You’ll take full ownership for ensuring that the designs you produce, can be installed, and are fit for purpose.


Some of your duties will include.

  • Reviewing initial design concepts
  • Producing technical and contractual specifications
  • Producing contractors’ proposals for design & build contracts.
  • Reviewing the design tender documents, highlighting any design inconsistences to the commercial team
  • Scrutinise consultants’ designs, apply value engineering principles, and ensure the final designs align with the initial ER’s.
  • Attending site during the initial construction phase of projects
  • Identifying any issues on site to the construction management team
  • Identifying and solving any coordination issues
  • Ensuring the projects remain on Programme and budget


As a privately owned Design & Build Contractor with around 150 employees, they remain nimble and extremely profitable. They are offering a starting salary in the region of £70 - £90K, an annual bonus of up to £5K, plus pension, 25 days annual leave, payment of professional memberships and travel costs to site.


As a Lead Electrical Design Engineer you’ll be involved in large scale, high specification commercial office fit out projects across central London. These will include shell and core, and CAT A to CAT B on behalf of banks, pharmaceutical companies, and tech companies.


Essential Requirements

  • 6+ years in a design-based role, working for a consultancy or D&B Contractor.
  • Able to lead projects and manage external specialist consultants.
  • Up to date with British Standards, 18th Edition and CIBSE best practices.
  • Able to work in the UK, without the need to be sponsored.
