Summary

Morgan Hunt are working with a leading social housing provider who are currently looking for an Assistant Building Surveyor to join their team.

As an Assistant Building Surveyor and play a crucial role in delivering top-notch repairs, maintenance, and property services. You'll work closely with our Regional Property Services Manager, handling day-to-day and major repairs, disrepair, voids/empty homes, and planned preventative maintenance. Your technical expertise and collaborative approach will drive improvements and ensure a first-class service for our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be a visible, customer-facing member of the team, offering professional technical advice and managing cases from start to finish.
  • Ensure all works meet high standards and provide value for money, aligning with our values and objectives.
  • Oversee a range of contractors, ensuring compliance with contracts and KPIs.
  • Build trust and confidence with key stakeholders, including Local Authorities and suppliers.
  • Conduct pre-inspections and building surveys, prepare detailed reports, and provide technical advice on building defects and diagnosis.
  • Manage the delivery of major repairs programmes, disrepair, and voids/empty homes.
  • Ensure adherence to all regulatory and statutory requirements.
  • Collaborate with Customer Operations and other departments to deliver seamless service and meet key performance indicators.
  • Participate in the out-of-hours rota, which may include availability on evenings and weekends.

About You:

  • Experience in building surveying and building maintenance.
  • Knowledge of Schedule of Rates and methods of measurement.
  • Ability to work independently with good initiative and judgement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety and relevant legislation.
  • Degree in Building Surveying or similar technical qualification, or relevant experience (HND/HNC). Candidates working towards these qualifications will also be considered.
  • Full UK Driver's license and access to own vehicle.
