Citadel Source are delighted to be working on an exclusive basis with Freemans to appoint their new Chief Financial Officer. Reporting to the CEO the CFO will be responsible for driving the strategic growth of the business whilst building a best-in-class finance function.

About you


This role will be working alongside the CEO to drive the strategic direction of the business. You will likely operate within a fast-paced and evolving business environment and be motivated by ‘value add’ activity. As the business invests heavily in internal processes, this role will have a clear mandate to drive quality and standards within the business with a clear focus on growth and improvement.

You will be entrepreneurially minded and used to wearing many hats within your role.


As a CFO, your responsibilities will include but is not limited to:


  • Strategic Leadership: Continuously evaluate our short- and long-term financial objectives and drive plans to boost financial performance and seize business opportunities. Ability to see the bigger picture - and convert into tangible actions to get there
  • Team Development: Lead and inspire the Finance team, providing clear direction, coaching, and support to help them reach their full potential
  • Financial Technology Insight: Leverage financial technology platforms to enhance business information and develop our overall strategy
  • M&A and Value Growth: Assess future merger and acquisition opportunities and accurately evaluate the EBITDA value of the business. Defining key metrics for those decisions
  • Financial Oversight: Ensure the Finance and Accounting team is credible by delivering timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial trends, forecasts, and comprehensive business plans
  • Annual Accounts Preparation: Finalise the annual financial accounts, coordinate with statutory auditors, and present results to external stakeholders. Sharing your knowledge with the team so they fully understand the cadence of statutory requirements
  • Cash Flow Management: Proactively manage group cash flow and expenses, identifying areas for improvement. Working with the People team to ensure our employee perks and expense entitlements are competitive, yet realistic
  • Contract Negotiation: Participate in contract negotiations and support business tender submissions with financial modelling and due diligence, ensuring alignment with our overall strategy
  • Policy Leadership: Lead on policies and processes for card payments and other transactions, ensuring data integrity and payment security
  • Capital Expenditure Oversight: Monitor capital expenditure requests to ensure alignment with our business strategy and financial goals, while overseeing asset management and return on investment reviews
  • Risk Management: Oversee risk management initiatives, including general liability and insurance coverage
  • Relationship Building: Develop strong relationships with key customers, suppliers, and brand owners to support business development and identify new opportunities. This role becomes a key component within our executive leadership team, making peer relationships crucial
  • ICT Responsibility: Oversee and provide clear direction to our internal ICT function and manage the disaster recovery plan
