PTW Coordinator (Permit to Work)

Location: Chester / North Wales

Employment Type: Agency Contract (Outside IR35)


About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive PTW Coordinator to join our HSE department. This role is crucial to managing and monitoring the Permit to Work (PTW) systems to ensure safe and compliant operations. The ideal candidate will have the necessary training and authorization to coordinate all aspects of the PTW process, identifying and mitigating potential work task conflicts.


The PTW Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the PTW office and leading daily PTW coordination meetings.


Key Responsibilities:

  • PTW System Management: Oversee and manage all aspects of the PTW systems, ensuring full compliance with HSE protocols.
  • Coordination and Conflict Resolution: Identify and resolve potential conflicts in work tasks from both a geographical and time perspective.
  • Daily Meetings: Chair and facilitate daily PTW coordination meetings to ensure all operations are safely and efficiently planned.


Additional Duties Include:

  • Conduct regular internal HSE inspections to ensure compliance.
  • Deliver comprehensive HSE induction and ongoing training programs.
  • Maintain and update HSE procedures tailored to specific tasks.
  • Supervise the implementation of HSE procedures at operative sites.
  • Enforce adherence to Life Saving Rules and communicate HSE standards effectively.
  • Distribute HSE-related rules, standards, procedures, and bulletins to the workforce.
  • Verify that safety risk assessments are thorough and that Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) are completed for all operations.
  • Promote and implement safe operative techniques and planning methodologies.
  • Ensure HSE reporting is accurate and follows company procedures.
  • Inspect subcontractor activities for HSE compliance.
  • Ensure equipment used on-site complies with safety standards.
  • Oversee the effective implementation of the PTW system, adjusting as needed.
  • Prepare and manage HSE Key Performance Indicators to measure safety performance.
  • Assist in accident investigations, analyze trends, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Monitor hazardous material control measures and ensure their effective use.
  • Supervise environmental aspects on-site and provide support to key personnel.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • HSE Expertise: Strong knowledge of HSE procedures, risk assessments, and PTW systems.
  • Leadership Abilities: Experience in coordinating safety processes and leading meetings.
  • Communication Skills: Effective at liaising with the workforce and delivering safety messages clearly.
  • Analytical Thinking: Capable of investigating incidents and proposing data-driven corrective measures.
  • Attention to Detail: Thorough in conducting inspections and maintaining compliance.
