We are seeking a skilled and experienced In-House Counsel to join our client, a software business in the betting and gambling industry, with multiple entities across the globe. The successful candidate will provide expert legal advice and support across various aspects of our business operations, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations in the UK. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.


The role will focus on UK related matters, however will partner with our legal advisors in other countries to ensure compliance throughout. This will be remote however in person meetings in London will be required from time to time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Legal Advice: Provide comprehensive legal advice to management and various departments on a wide range of legal issues, including corporate law, contract law, employment law, intellectual property, data protection, and compliance.
  • Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and other legal documents to ensure the company's interests are protected.
  • Compliance: Ensure the company complies with all relevant laws and regulations, including GDPR and other data protection regulations. Implement and monitor compliance programs and policies.
  • Risk Management: Identify and assess legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate potential issues. Provide proactive solutions to minimize legal risks.
  • Dispute Resolution: Manage and resolve disputes, including litigation and arbitration. Work with external legal counsel when necessary.
  • Corporate Governance: Assist in the preparation and review of corporate documents and ensure compliance with corporate governance requirements.
  • Training and Development: Conduct training sessions for employees on legal and compliance issues to foster a culture of legal awareness within the company.
  • External Relations: Liaise with external legal advisors, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Investment activities: Work with our Founders and C level to prepare investment documentation and agreements.


Requirements:

  • Education: LL.B. degree from a recognized university. A post-graduate qualification in law (LL.M. or equivalent) is desirable.
  • Professional Qualification: Qualified solicitor/barrister in the UK.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-8 years of post-qualification experience, preferably within a corporate legal department or a reputable law firm.
  • Skills:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools.
  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of UK laws and regulations relevant to the business.
