You are a qualified Counsellor or Therapist with a recognised qualification in counselling or therapy and a current membership in a relevant professional body. You have experience delivering counselling to children and young people and understand child protection procedures and safeguarding commitments. You possess strong communication skills, the ability to complete thorough assessments and treatment plans, and can effectively adapt to changing client needs. You have excellent organizational skills and the capacity to maintain accurate records. Your commitment to ongoing professional development and equal opportunities is fundamental, along with your ability to collaborate with diverse groups in educational settings.
What the Job InvolvesThe role involves providing targeted therapeutic counselling to school-aged children struggling with attendance and behaviour within both school settings and Family Help Hubs. You will collaborate with nominated schools to identify children who could benefit from individual support, create treatment plans, and deliver sessions to improve their wellbeing. Maintaining effective communication with parents and carers is crucial, as is advocating for the young person's needs. You will be part of the Team Around the Family, sharing progress and ensuring support continues at home. The role demands active participation in safeguarding procedures, contributing to team meetings, and using IT systems for record keeping. You will be accountable for managing resources efficiently and ensuring your professional practice aligns with the City Council's policies and equal opportunities initiatives.
