Essential Pharma are looking for an MSAT Director, this is a key leadership role that will enable the successful delivery of our business strategy as we acquire new assets. You will manage the relationship with our CMO partners, drive the successful tech transfer of products ensuring we hit deadlines and support the diligence part of the M&A process. The role will be fully accountable for the MSAT function, you will develop people, lead process optimization and own tech transfer for established mature medicines, preclinical and clinical stage assets. What You Will Do


  • Lead and develop the MSAT team, driving projects forward working with key internal and external stakeholders to achieve business goals, partnering with CMOs to ensure the delivery of key projects.
  • Develop departmental strategy for tech transfer within portfolio optimization.
  • Provide overall accountability for the tech transfer process and support due diligence of target assets identified by M&A for potential acquisition.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement strategies to enhance efficiency and product quality.
  • Provide ongoing technical support, addressing process deviations and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Develop and maintain process control strategies to ensure product consistency.
  • Manage budgets and resource allocation.


What We Do


Essential Pharma is an international specialty pharmaceutical company dedicated to maintaining access to clinically differentiated, niche medicines in small patient populations. Our high-impact portfolio includes over 300 medicines covering ten therapeutic areas, with a focus on the central nervous system (CNS), gastroenterology, ophthalmology, and rare diseases. Our products treat patients in more than 70 countries.


We are proactive in identifying low volume, difficult-to-manufacture therapeutic products, and late-stage clinical development assets that target rare diseases. Our recent acquisition of Renaissance Pharmaceuticals is a significant milestone for Essential Pharma, the groups second product for treatment of a rare disease, and the first development-stage asset in our portfolio.

Our UK Operations team is comprised of 60 people, based out of our Egham, Surrey office, five minutes’ drive from Egham Train Station situated on the Thorpe Industrial Estate. We also have colleagues based in Malta, France, Spain and Switzerland.


What You Will Bring


  • Sciences degree in a relevant field (pharmaceutical sciences, engineering, biochemistry or similar)
  • Proven leadership experience of small teams and partner management of CMOs / CDMOs.
  • Extensive pharmaceutical industry experience with biologics and/or small molecule manufacturing.
  • Strong background in driving process development and technology transfer working with partners to ensure project milestones are delivered in line with company strategy.
  • Eligibility to live and work in the UK.


What We Offer


  • Salary – from £95,000
  • Agile Working – we offer flexibility and trust from day one, when you attend the office will be guided by business needs and role requirements. This role requires you to work a least two days per week from our Egham, Surrey office with flexibility for business needs and company events.
