MDE is currently seeking a dynamic Assistant Grid Connections Engineer to join a leading developer specialising in the delivery of utility-scale solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects across the UK, USA, and Australia.


In addition to its core focus on utility-scale renewables, particularly solar and battery storage, the company also offers distributed energy solutions and grid support infrastructure.


Job Overview:


The Assistant Grid Connections Engineer will play a key role in supporting the development and implementation of grid connection projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a dedicated individual to gain hands-on experience in the renewable energy sector and contribute to the growth and success of our company.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Assist in the planning, design, and implementation of grid connection projects for renewable energy installations.
  • Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies to evaluate grid connection options and requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, external stakeholders, and regulatory authorities to obtain necessary permits and approvals.
  • Support the preparation of technical specifications, drawings, and documentation for grid connection applications.
  • Assist in coordinating grid connection activities with contractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
  • Conduct technical analyses and simulations to assess the impact of grid connection on system performance and reliability.
  • Participate in on-site inspections, commissioning activities, and testing of grid-connected equipment and systems.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to project managers, engineers, and other team members as needed.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes related to grid connections.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, quality standards, and project timelines to ensure successful project delivery.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Previous experience or coursework in grid connection design, renewable energy, or power systems is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools, such as AutoCAD, PSS/E, and MATLAB, is desirable.
  • Familiarity with grid codes, standards, and regulations governing grid connection projects.
