Indirect Procurement Manager

First, let’s talk careers. When it comes to moving forward, we’ve got your back.
No-one cares more about their food than we do. So it’ll come as no surprise that we want our people to feel the same about their careers. In fact, we want everyone to crave a role here as much as our customers crave our burgers, and we’ve created a workplace that works hard to make that happen.
From day one, our story has been about staying true to who we are. And we’re proud to say that this is a place where the real you can thrive. It’s where you’ll find real opportunities, real careers, real challenges, real thinking, and real lives.
What we’re really trying to say is that you can come and visit us for our burgers any time you like. But if you’re someone who lives for keeping it real, we think you might just want to stay for the careers, too.
We’re growing fast, so we’ll make sure you have everything you need to learn, grow and develop with us.
But that’s only just the beginning. We want you to get a taste of the good stuff too, so you'll also be able to make the most of:
- 20% discretionary bonus
- 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays)
- £50k critical illness cover
- Private medical cover
- Life insurance
- A pension (for when you finally leave us)
- Discount vouchers for places you’ll actually want to go to
- 50% off food and drink for friends and family
- Workplace nursery scheme
- Cycle to work scheme
- Employee Assistance Programme
- Wagesteam - access your pay when you need it
About the opportunity:
This role is suitable for a current Procurement Assistant/Procurement Assistant Manager who is looking to further develop their career and grow their knowledge. The ideal candidate would be someone who has experience of procurement (within this sector is useful but not mandatory). Someone who can keep on top of the day to day, but also look for opportunities to improve. Someone who is a collaborator, with the ability to build strong relationships. Someone who can communicate across all functions of the BKUK business and with suppliers to secure goods, materials and services required by existing and future restaurants.
The successful candidate would be part of a small high performing team who work truly cross-functionally in supporting colleagues to deliver a wide and varied range of goods and services to 500+ Burger King restaurants in the UK. This includes both equity and franchise restaurants.
What you'll do:
- Overseeing the day-to-day performance of several key suppliers to the BK system that sit both inside and outside of the 3PL operation:
- Directly supplied goods such as; cleaning chemicals, smallwares, consumables, paper products, PPE etc.
- Restaurant services: Waste management (inc. green credentials, food waste collections, zero to landfill, increasing system recycling rates, etc), Industrial gas supplies, waste oil collection and recycling.
- Non-3PL supplied goods to restaurants; Uniforms and footwear, stationery/tools/operational items.
- Representing Supply Chain in cross functional meetings, supporting New Product Development and Marketing Teams when rolling out new menu items which require additional equipment/consumables to be sourced and procured (these lines are often the critical path and drive launch timelines, so need to be carefully managed).
- Liaising with our finance and accounts teams, analyse spend across numerous areas and ensure invoicing and billing is correct and accurate to contracted terms.
- Work with the Responsible Business team to ensure supplier responses to our information requests as we work through our sustainability journey.
- Use initiative to look for opportunities to consolidate and reduce spend whilst maintaining best in class availability and work to a greener and more sustainable brand.
- Develop trusted category relationships with all current suppliers.
- Track commodity pricing and challenge suppliers as appropriate.
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant industry experience.
- A knowledge and understanding of sourcing, procurement category management, competitive bidding, logistics, supply chain principles, procedures and methods.
- Commercial acumen and a proven track record of identifying and delivering savings.
- Experience of tender processes and supplier management.
- Ideally procurement experience in non-food categories.
- Commercial awareness of markets, competitors, and food service with an interest in QSR.
- Entrepreneurial flair and a strong attention to detail.
