We’re looking for a dynamic, proactive, and driven PR Assistant to support our account teams on administrative tasks while developing excellent organisational and prioritisation skills that underpin our media relations and thought-leadership activity.


This fixed-term role is an exciting opportunity to kickstart your career in communications working with some of the world’s most innovative B2B technology businesses. We provide on-the-job training for new entrants to the market.

As a PR Assistant, you will research relevant media outlets, draft pitches, and other press materials, and pitch to the media, gaining hands-on experience in securing media coverage for clients in a high-energy B2B PR and integrated communications environment.


This role will be a 12-month fixed contract offering you the experience required to progress on your PR journey. Individuals that demonstrate potential, meet the required performance criteria, and have a genuine passion for PR will be offered the opportunity to join GingerMay as an Account Executive following this initial 12-month period.


This hybrid-role will be based from our central London or Tunbridge Wells office, as well as from home.


Key responsibilities:


  • Monitor the news agenda for relevant stories for clients.
  • Maintain an active presence on social media, monitoring journalists to identify client coverage opportunities and engaging with them to foster positive relationships.
  • Research and develop story angles, pitches, and content for targeted B2B tech and national media outlets.
  • Research media slots.
  • Draft pitches and pitch to media to deliver coverage.
  • Draft and distribute press releases, media kits, and other public relations materials.
  • Maintain and update media contact lists and databases.
  • Monitor and analyse media coverage for clients, providing reports and insights on trends and key developments via media monitoring tools and platforms.
  • Assist in organising and coordinating media briefings and interviews.
  • Respond to media inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate communication.
  • Collaborate with the wider team to share research and insights for new business proposals.


What experience and qualities do you need to be a Ginger?


  • Previous experience in a professional workplace environment.
  • Demonstrative interest in a career in PR such as a work experience placement or internship in a PR/comms agency.
  • A genuine passion for media demonstrated through engagement with newspapers, blogs etc., to keep abreast of the news agenda.
  • Strong research skills.
  • Proactive and driven to search out the best media opportunities for clients with and without direction.
  • Social media savvy, with a basic understanding of platforms such as LinkedIn and X.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to roll sleeves up and get involved from the ground up.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
