About the Role

Our client, a leading agency representing top YouTube comedy talent, is seeking a Comedy Script Writer / Director to collaborate with some of the most dynamic comedians on YouTube. This role requires a talented, creative individual with a sharp comedic voice, a deep understanding of digital platforms, and the ability to craft engaging scripts that resonate with YouTube audiences.

As the Comedy Script Writer / Director, you will work closely with comedians to develop scripts, create original sketches, and oversee the creative process to produce compelling, high-quality content. You’ll be instrumental in capturing each comedian’s unique style while adapting to the fast-paced, ever-evolving nature of online content creation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Scriptwriting and Development: Collaborate with YouTube comedians to write and develop original, engaging comedy scripts tailored to the platform.
  • Creative Direction: Provide direction during filming to ensure the comedic vision is accurately translated on screen, capturing the tone and style that resonates with YouTube audiences.
  • Content Ideation: Generate fresh ideas for sketches, series, and episodes, keeping in mind YouTube trends, audience preferences, and comedic timing.
  • Audience-Centric Storytelling: Develop scripts that are not only humorous but also well-suited to YouTube’s audience, including pacing, length, and structure.
  • Collaborative Work: Work closely with talent, production teams, and other creatives to refine scripts and ensure alignment with each comedian’s brand and style.
  • Trend Analysis: Stay up-to-date with YouTube trends, popular formats, and successful content types, applying these insights to script development.


Skills and Experience

  • Comedy Writing Experience: Proven experience in comedy writing, ideally for digital platforms or social media.
  • YouTube Platform Knowledge: Strong understanding of YouTube content, algorithms, and what makes comedic content succeed on the platform.
  • Directing Skills: Ability to direct talent during filming, ensuring scripts are brought to life in an engaging, humorous, and professional way.
  • Creativity and Adaptability: Strong creative instincts with the ability to adapt quickly to trends and shifts in YouTube’s landscape.
  • Excellent Communication: Skilled at working collaboratively with comedians and production teams, with the ability to take and give constructive feedback.
  • Audience Awareness: Insight into what resonates with online audiences, with the ability to craft scripts that capture attention and drive engagement.
