Team Manager – Days 1 shift pattern

Making a difference – How this role contributes to our success

We have an exciting opportunity for Team Managers at our McVitie’s manufacturing site in Harlesden in north-West London. Covering 12 hour nights shift 1, you will r eport into a Manufacturing Manager and be a key member of our Manufacturing Team. In this role, you will be responsible for producing some of the UK’s favourite biscuits: Digestives, Chocolate Digestives, Chocolate Hobnobs, Rich Tea Biscuits or Mini Cheddars.

The Team Manager role

As a Team Manager, you will be accountable for people, plant, product and process delivery against clearly defined role outputs and responsibilities. Those responsibilities include motivating, leading and coaching a manufacturing team to successfully deliver production, quality, hygiene, safety, conformance to plan and attendance KPIs. In addition to ensuring production and conformance to plan targets are met, you will be required to undertake Crisis Incident Management, Accident and Near Miss investigations, and responsible for ensuring standards of conduct are maintained and managing disciplinary and grievance situations within your team.

Good communication, analytical and team leadership skills are essential, together with the ability to establish and maintain a culture to support all aspects of Lean Manufacturing. Proven demonstration of an investigative and problem-solving approach is essential as it will be a key deliverable within the role. You will need to be able to work in a methodical and systematic way, and have an aptitude for high attention to detail as you will manage bulk dry/liquid ingredients and mixers operation in a FMCG environment.

Essential Experience, Skills and Qualifications
  • Have proven leadership skills, and will lead by example, demonstrating high standards of behaviour, honesty and integrity
  • Be a confident and effective communicator, and can demonstrate a track record in leading teams to drive up standards and improve efficiency in all areas
  • Accept responsibility and take ownership of problems, and see change as an opportunity
  • Delegate, empower, influence and motivate people to achieve goals
  • Develop and support people through coaching and feedback to achieve excellence
  • Ideally have a minimum of 3 years’ experience of managing in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong computer skills (EXCEL, Office, PowerPoint)
  • Have experience of working with LEAN
  • Preferably have experience of managing in FMCG
  • Preferably have experience of working in a unionised environment
  • Be PC- literate with extensive experience of Microsoft Office
