Senior Front-End Engineer (React & Next.js)
Prime Tech Co.
London (Hybrid), Permanent
Overview
Prime Tech Co. is hiring a Senior Front-End Engineer to take ownership of the front end for a large-scale, customer-facing web platform in the asset/financial services domain. This is a client-facing role where communication, stakeholder management, and delivery discipline matter as much as technical depth. You will build, ship, and continuously improve React/Next.js experiences with a strong focus on quality, performance, reliability, and maintainability.
What You’ll Do
- Build and evolve a large-scale, customer-facing web platform using React, Next.js (SSR/SSG), TypeScript, and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
- Own features end-to-end from technical design and estimation through implementation, testing, release, and post-release improvements.
- Partner directly with product owners, designers, and content stakeholders to translate business and regulatory requirements into practical technical solutions.
- Contribute to and maintain reusable UI component libraries shared across teams within a monorepo setup.
- Drive web performance improvements including Core Web Vitals, caching considerations, and front-end optimization strategies.
- Improve technical SEO and structured data implementations to support discoverability and compliance needs.
- Work with AWS-hosted infrastructure patterns (e.g., S3, CDN caching) and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI/CD) using Docker.
- Use AI-assisted engineering tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) to accelerate delivery while maintaining code quality standards.
- Participate in sprint planning and Agile ceremonies, proactively raising risks, dependencies, and delivery trade-offs.
- Review code, mentor engineers, and champion clean, secure, well-tested, maintainable front-end practices. Who You Are
- Proactive and ownership-driven, identifying issues and opportunities early and driving them through to resolution.
- A clear communicator who can explain technical decisions, trade-offs, and risks to engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfortable managing expectations in a client-facing environment, including constructive pushback and transparent progress updates.
- Delivery-focused, balancing speed with quality, reliability, and maintainability.
- Collaborative and supportive, raising team standards through thoughtful reviews, knowledge sharing, and mentoring. Minimum Qualifications (Must-Have)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of professional front-end/web application engineering experience.
- Strong commercial experience with React, Next.js, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
- Experience building large-scale web applications and reusable component libraries.
- Strong understanding of web performance optimization and Core Web Vitals.
- Experience with state management patterns (e.g., Redux, Context API) and build tooling (e.g., Webpack, Babel).
- Solid testing practices using tools such as Jest, React Testing Library, and Cypress (or equivalent).
- Experience with CI/CD (e.g., GitLab or similar), Docker, and AWS.
- Demonstrated experience working directly with business and/or client stakeholders in an Agile environment. Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Have)
- Experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM).
- Experience in financial services, ideally asset management or banking, including regulated environments.
- Hands-on technical SEO and Schema.org/structured data implementation experience.
- Experience with monorepo tooling (e.g., RushJS, Nx, Turborepo) and/or micro-frontend architectures.
- Practical experience integrating with Node.js services and APIs (GraphQL and REST).
- Front-end security awareness and implementation experience (e.g., RBAC/entitlements, OWASP practices).
- Demonstrated, responsible use of AI coding tools in production engineering workflows. What Success Looks Like (Early Indicators)
- You quickly establish trust through proactive communication, clear technical reasoning, and reliable execution.
- You take ownership of a feature or problem area and move it forward end-to-end with minimal supervision.
- You raise risks and dependencies early, propose solutions, and keep stakeholders aligned on progress and trade-offs.
- You contribute to team quality through code reviews, maintainable patterns, and pragmatic improvements to performance and testing. Benefits
