Clinic Nurse – Private Healthcare Services
Bruntsfield, Edinburgh | £38,000 – £40,000 per year
We're an established, independent pharmacy and clinic business going through an exciting period of growth, with a second Edinburgh branch now open. As our private healthcare services expand, we're looking for a Clinic Nurse to join the team at Bruntsfield Pharmacy & Travel and Health Clinic.
This is a hands-on clinical role with real variety. Travel health is at the core of it, but you'll also deliver and help build a growing range of private services. If you want to develop your skills, take ownership of services and grow with a business that's going places, this is a good fit.
Whether you're an experienced travel health nurse or a Registered Nurse looking to move into private clinical work, we'll give you the training and support to do the job well.
The Role:
You'll run daily Travel Health Consultations and assist with Phlebotomy Appointments. That means thorough risk assessments, tailored advice, administering vaccinations, providing malaria prophylaxis and recommending the right travel medicines for each patient. You'll work under Patient Group Directions throughout.
Alongside travel health, you'll deliver other clinical services such as cryotherapy and ear wax removal once fully trained. There's room to develop further into weight management, cryotherapy and ear health services.
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting daily Travel Health Consultations focused on personalised patient care
- Carrying out comprehensive risk assessments and giving clear, tailored advice to travellers
- Administering travel vaccinations and providing malaria prophylaxis
- Preparing travel medicine kits, including treatment for travellers' diarrhoea
- Assist with Phlebotomy Appointments, drawing samples from patients and preparing these for laboratory testing
- Delivering additional clinical services such as cryotherapy and ear wax removal after full training
- Working within the relevant Patient Group Directions at all times
- Keeping accurate, thorough and up-to-date patient records
- Making sure every clinical service is delivered safely and to a high standard
- Managing the clinic booking calendar and your own clinical workload
- Providing a welcoming, professional service to every patient, every time
- Spotting ways to improve how our clinics run and how patients experience them
- Supporting the wider pharmacy team and helping the business grow The Ideal Candidate: You'll be an NMC-registered nurse with a genuine interest in travel health. You'll be based in Edinburgh or able to travel reliably to Bruntsfield. You'll be organised, a strong communicator and someone who takes pride in getting things right. You'll be happy working on your own in clinic, but you'll know when to ask for help. You'll also want to build a long-term career in private healthcare rather than just fill a post. We'd love to hear from you, if you:
- Hold current NMC registration and a Registered Nursing qualification
- Have a genuine interest in travel health medicine
- Hold a Foundation or Diploma in Travel Medicine (desirable, not essential)
- Can deliver clinical services confidently, safely and effectively
- Manage your workload well and prioritise patient needs
- Are organised, diligent and conscientious
- Are enthusiastic, proactive and keen to learn new clinical skills
- Are professional, approachable and respectful with patients and colleagues
- Work well independently and as part of a close-knit team
- Are interested in developing into weight management, cryotherapy and ear health services
- Want to contribute ideas and help shape our private clinic offering
- Are flexible and available for weekend shifts when required Previous travel health or private clinic experience is welcome but not essential for the right person. Full training and ongoing support will be provided. Benefits, Perks and Financial Rewards
