eCommerce Developer
West Yorkshire (Wakefield area) | Office based | £30,000 to £40,000 + benefits
If you've spent a couple of years working on eCommerce sites that actually take money, and you want a team where your work goes live quickly and you can see the commercial impact, this one is worth a read.
I'm working exclusively with a well established UK business supplies group that sells, distributes and delivers to workplaces across the UK and Ireland. Six trading websites, B2B and B2C, run on their own in house platform and trade every single day.
WHY NOW
The business is bringing full ownership of its eCommerce platform in house. That opens up development that simply wasn't possible before, with new websites, new services and marketplace capability on the roadmap. They're also adding a new technical leadership role alongside their Head of eCommerce Development, so the team is growing and engineering standards are going up.
It's a very good time to join. You'll learn from someone with over 15 years on the platform, inside a team that's raising its game on testing, code quality and delivery.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Building new features and enhancements across six live trading websites
- Helping design and launch new sites, applications and digital services
- Full stack development using C#, .
NET, Entity Framework Core and SQL Server
- Front end work in HTML, CSS, JavaScript and TypeScript
- Working with the Web Design team to turn designs and business requirements into working solutions
- Investigating live issues, finding the root cause and fixing it properly
- Testing your work before it ships and documenting what you've built so others can support it WHAT THEY'RE LOOKING FOR
- At least two years' commercial experience developing or supporting transactional eCommerce websites. Sites that take payments, not just apps or brochure sites
- Working knowledge of C# and .
NET, including .
NET Core
- SQL Server and Entity Framework Core
- HTML, CSS and JavaScript or TypeScript
- Git and Azure DevOps, or similar
- Some exposure to CI/CD pipelines, Agile and Scrum
- Experience working on live systems with lots of moving parts, where you think about the knock on effects before you release anything Nice to have: Java, testing experience (functional, regression or automated), Azure or AWS, REST APIs, ASP.
NET MVC, IIS, payment gateway or supplier punch out integrations, and experience with legacy or bespoke platforms. WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU
- £30,000 to £40,000 plus benefits, depending on experience
- Mentoring from a Head of eCommerce Development who knows the platform inside out
- Exposure to the full development lifecycle, from build to testing, release and support
- Real ownership of your work, on sites that trade every day
- A growing team, with the platform coming fully in house and new development opening up THE ENVIRONMENT It's fast paced and commercially focused. Work gets prioritised quickly and you'll see your changes go live. The team wants someone who can take a brief, think it through and get on with it, while still being happy to learn and ask the right questions. PLEASE NOTE This is an office based role. The site is hard to reach by public transport, so you'll need to be able to get there reliably every day. If you're not local, a full UK driving licence and your own transport are strongly preferred. If this sounds like your next step, message me or apply here and we can have a confidential chat first.
