We also offer turnkeydesign, build, and operate solutions for commercial energy centres and large-scale district heatingsolutions and have experience with successfully procuring and delivering many similar packagesto a wide range of public bodies throughout UK & Europe.Team Overview:The Contracts department oversees the delivery and execution of projects from initial mobilisationthrough to completion and handover. Acting as the bridge between design, commercial, and onsite teams, the department ensures that all contractual obligations are met while maintaining highstandards of quality, safety, and efficiency. With a focus on planning, resource coordination, andproblem-solving, the Contracts team plays a key role in ensuring our projects are delivered ontime, within scope, and to the satisfaction of our clients.Role Overview:The Mechanical Project Manager will lead the planning, execution, and completion ofmechanical engineering projects that improve production capability, efficiency, and reliability.This role combines deep technical knowledge with strong leadership and projectmanagement expertise to ensure successful delivery of capital and improvement projectswithin scope, budget, and schedule.Job Title Mechanical Project ManagerLocation Head Office, BanbridgeHours Monday-Thursday 8am-5pm and Friday 8am-3pmSalary Competitive Depending on ExperienceResponsible to Project DirectorWhat You'll be Doing:Project Planning & Execution.• Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, and budgets for mechanical systeminstallations and improvements.• Ensure all project activities align with plant operational goals and business strategies.Job Description - Management Accountant- 2023 Page 2 of 3Technical & Engineering Oversight.• Provide mechanical engineering expertise during equipment selection, system design,and layout development.• Review and approve engineering drawings, vendor specifications, and technicaldocuments.• Oversee mechanical installations to ensure compliance with design intent, safety, andquality standards.Procurement & Supply Chain Management• Working in conjunction with the Procurement and Supply Chain teams for mechanicalequipment, components, and services.• Prepare technical specifications, RFQs, and bid packages; evaluate vendor proposalsand negotiate contracts.• Collaborate with procurement and finance teams to track expenditures and managesupplier performance.Sub-Contractor & Third-Party Management• Identify third party sub-contractors and suppliers and ensure their timely integration intothe project.• Manage relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and third-party engineering firms.• Oversee contractor performance in safety, quality, schedule adherence, andcompliance with project requirements.• Coordinate activities and resolve interface issues between internal departments andexternal parties.• Conduct regular progress meetings, inspections, and performance reviews.Cost, Quality & Risk Control• Monitor project costs, forecasts, and progress against budget and schedule.• Identify and mitigate risks proactively through contingency planning and stakeholderengagement.• Maintain high standards of quality and ensure all deliverables meet corporate andindustry standards.Cross-Functional Collaboration• Work closely with operations, maintenance, production, EHS, and quality teams toensure seamless project integration.• Support process optimization and ensure mechanical systems contribute to operationalefficiency and safety.Compliance & Documentation• Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including drawings, test records,change orders, and commissioning reports.• Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards (ASME, ISO, API, etc.), andcorporate engineering policies.Job Description - Management Accountant- 2023 Page 3 of 3What You Need to Have:• Strong technical background in mechanical systems, MEP equipment and plantutilities.• Proven experience in contract negotiation and vendor management.• Effective leadership and stakeholder coordination skills.• Proficiency in CAD and project management tools (AutoCAD, Solidworks, MS Project,ASTA).• Strong commercial awareness and budget management capability.• Excellent communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills.• Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline• Minimum 5 year in mechanical project management within a manufacturing or industrialenvironment.What You Would Ideally Have:• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and continuous improvementmethodologies.• Certification: PMP, Prince 2 or six sigma certification.• Industry Experience: off site MEP prefabricated solutions, heavy plant manufacture.Employee Benefits:• Full in-house training and career development opportunities• Competitive pension scheme• Life assurance scheme• Health cash plan• Free annual health check during working hours• 30 days annual leave increasing in line with length of service.• Social events organised for all employees throughout the year via our Health andWellbeing committee.• Secure, free onsite parking• Free Coffee, Hot Chocolate, Tea, and Fruit provided daily.• Friendly and supportive working environment in state-of-the-art facilitieswww.alternativeheat.co.ukAlternative Heat is an equal opportunities employer.
