What's The OpportunityWe have an opportunity for a skilled Structural Engineer with good experience delivering both building and larger survey and refurbishment projects to join our team. You will assist in the provision of a wide range of structural engineering services. The projects we work on include a variety of large complex schemes through to smaller local client focussed tasks. We work both in the UK and internationally with interesting clients including F1 Teams, airports, schools/universities, contractors, developers and local authorities.What you need to do to be effective in this rolePrepare outline designs for structural schemes based on our client's briefCarry out detailed design calculations to Eurocodes using the latest 3D design softwareCo-ordinate your designs with other design disciplines and specialists with BIMAssist with the production of detailed design drawings and specifications for tender purposesVisit sites during the construction phase to monitor on-site progressCarry out structural surveys of existing buildings and advise on any issues that may ariseAnalyse and report on structural defects in existing buildings and structuresCheck outgoing and incoming documents, including contractors' proposal documentationThe skills and experience you need to have for this roleA good understanding of basic structural behaviourA proactive approach with a can-do attitudeBe a team player within the structures team, the wider teams in the office and company and with clients and collaboratorsDegree in structural or civil engineering and be working towards professional chartership statusProven experience of working in structural design and site experience in a construction companyA good understanding of the basic regulatory requirements including Eurocodes - this will be covered in your interviewExperience and understanding of sustainability issues within structural designBe a proficient user of structural analysis software such as TEKLA, Masterseries, SCIA and TEDDSCompetency at report writing and other forms of design communication.
