Experience in mental health is beneficial, as Thornford Park provides medium and low secure forensic services, PICU care, and specialist pathways for Mental Health illness, Personality Disorders, Learning Disabilities, and Autism.You’ll work alongside a supportive multidisciplinary team, using your skills to help individuals progress along their recovery journey. As you grow in your role, you’ll have the opportunity to work across multiple wards and services and pursue qualifications in health and social care.We offer a comprehensive three-week induction to help you thrive from day one.The shift pattern is 12.5 hours per dayPlease note (Bank Only): You’ll need to commit to a paid three-week training course. If you’re unable to attend, we kindly ask that you do not apply.What You Will Be Doing:As a Healthcare Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting and empowering service users through a seamless, integrated recovery and rehabilitation pathway that truly transforms lives. Your day-to-day will include:Providing compassionate, person-centred care to individuals at every stage of their recoverySupporting ward rounds and observing behaviours to help shape responsive care plansAssisting with everyday tasks, including personal care, to promote dignity and independenceCollaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic, tailored support Where You’ll Be Working:Location: Crookham Hill, Thatcham, Berkshire, RG19 8ETThornford Park is a 130 bed hospital set within 21 acres of Berkshire countryside, offering a seamless care pathway across medium and low secure services, psychiatric intensive care units (PICUs), and rehabilitation flats. The site supports men and women with complex Mental Health needs, Personality Disorders, Learning Disabilities, and Autism—often with histories of offending or previous placement challenges.Services include:Medium & Low Secure Units for acute and long-term carePICUs for individuals in psychiatric crisisOlder Adult Services with age-appropriate, holistic interventionsSpecialist Learning Disability & Autism Pathways with integrated secure settings and step-down flatsYou’ll be part of a recovery-focused, multidisciplinary team helping people move safely toward greater independence.
