Would you love the opportunity to work alongside trained therapists, counsellors and psychologists while gaining valuable SEN experience?An outstanding specialist school in Reading, Berkshire, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Mental Health Assistant / Teaching Assistant to support children aged 4-11 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and complex behaviours.This is an excellent opportunity for a Psychology, Counselling or Criminology graduate (or a candidate with relevant experience) who is keen to build hands-on experience in a specialist setting - perfect for an aspiring educational psychologist, therapeutic support worker, or SEN teacher.About the Role:Mental Health Assistant / SEN Teaching AssistantFull-time (Monday to Friday, 8:30am-4:00pm)ASAP startWorking closely with pupils with SEMH and complex needsCollaborating with on-site psychologists, therapists, and specialist teachersSupporting pupils both in class and through targeted interventionsGaining invaluable experience shadowing therapy sessions and interventionsThe Ideal Candidate:A graduate in Psychology, Counselling, Criminology (other related subjects considered)Confident, resilient, proactive, and able to use initiativeOpen-minded, patient and enthusiastic about supporting young peoplePrevious experience working with children, young people or adults with SEN/SEMH (personal or professional) is desirable but not essentialInterested?
