Job DescriptionSenior Design Engineer - Design Team (LV to 11kV)Location: Leeds, UK Department: Design Team Contract Type: Permanent, Full-TimeAbout the RoleAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join a leading Design Team, specializing in Low Voltage (LV) to 11kV systems. This role is central to delivering high-quality electrical infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the design of LV to 11kV electrical distribution systems, including switchgear, transformers, and protection schemes.Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and design staff.Ensure designs meet regulatory, safety, and client requirements.Collaborate with project managers, clients, and stakeholders to deliver innovative and cost-effective solutions.Prepare detailed design documentation, drawings, and specifications.Support tendering activities with technical input and design proposals.Drive continuous improvement in design processes and standards.Essential Skills & ExperienceDegree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).Proven experience working for an Independent Connection Provider (ICP).Strong background in LV to 11kV system design within utilities, infrastructure, or industrial environments.Knowledge of design systems, protection coordination, and electrical distribution networks.Proficiency in design software and CAD tools.Excellent communication and leadership skills.Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver to tight deadlines.DesirableChartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards it.Experience with renewable energy integration or smart grid technologies.Familiarity with UK Distribution Network Operator (DNO) standards.What's on OfferCompetitive salary and benefits package.Opportunities for professional development and chartership support.A collaborative team environment with exposure to cutting-edge projects.Flexible working arrangements.
