If you're looking for a place where your ideas are valued and your career can flourish, you've found itJob Description: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Workshop Controller to oversee the daily operations of our busy workshop at the Ernesettle depot. This site includes multiple workshop bays. You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth, safe, and compliant running of all workshop activities, supporting the maintenance and servicing of our Group Fleet vehicles, including HGVs, vans, and trailers.Key Responsibilities:Workshop Operations & Planning:Manage daily workshop scheduling, including MOT bookings, servicing, and repairs across the Group Fleet.Allocate work to technicians and monitor progress to ensure timely and high-quality completion.Health & Safety Compliance:Champion a culture of safety by enforcing health and safety policies and procedures.Conduct regular checks and audits to ensure a safe working environment for all staff.Quality Control & Process Management:Monitor and maintain high standards of workmanship and service delivery.Implement and manage quality control processes to ensure all work meets regulatory and company standards.Stock & Resource Management:Manage workshop stock levels, including ordering and maintaining impress stock.Ensure technicians have the tools and parts required to perform their duties efficiently.Fleet Compliance & Documentation:Work closely with the compliance team to ensure all vehicles meet legal and industry standards.Ensure accurate and timely completion of service records, inspection sheets, and compliance documentation.Budget Oversight:Collaborate with the Fleet department to manage workshop budgets and control costs.Monitor spending and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising service quality.Team Collaboration & Environment:Foster strong working relationships across departments to support operational efficiency.Continuously seek ways to improve the workshop environment and team morale.Required Experience:Qualifications & ExperienceLevel 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent).Previous supervisory or team leadership experience in a workshop environment.Experience managing HGV truck and trailer maintenance operations.Skills & AttributesStrong organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to challenges.High standards of customer service and communication across all levels.Proficiency in workshop management systems and Microsoft Office applications.LGV licence is advantageous but not essential.Why Join Gregory Distribution Ltd?Competitive Salary: £44,000per annum to £47,000per annum dependant on experience.Hours: Monday to Friday 08:00-17:00.Training: Monthly Courses for a variety of areas.Benefits: Additional holiday purchasing scheme*, Retail discounts with Circular Benefits *, Retail Trust Wellbeing Support*, and more.Career Growth: Explore opportunities for professional development within our expanding business.Company Benefits: Excellent holiday allowance.
