Senior Cloud Solutions Architect & DevOps Lead (SC Cleared) Hybrid: 3 days on-site in London | 2 days remote Start: ASAP | 6-month contract (likely extension) Outside IR35 | £650 per dayWe're looking for a hands-on Solutions Architect & DevOps Lead with active SC Clearance to join a mission-critical programme in a secure, high-assurance environment.This role is for someone who can design, build and deliver — not just produce architecture diagrams. You'll combine cloud architecture, on-prem engineering and DevOps capability to create robust, secure and scalable solutions across hybrid infrastructures.What You'll Be DoingYou will play a key part in architecting, designing and implementing solutions across on-prem, hybrid and multi cloud environments — including secure & air-gapped systems.You will:Design scalable, secure enterprise architectures across hybrid infrastructureDeliver hands-on engineering across on-prem, cloud and containerised ecosystemsConfigure and secure foundational infrastructure, including networking, identity/access controls, platform hardening and cross-environment integrationOwn and evolve DevOps pipelines, applying CI/CD, IaC and automation best-practiceWork across enterprise tooling and platforms to support development, operations, data and governance requirementsLead architecture assurance, technical governance and solution decision-makingOversee solution delivery end-to-end: concept → design → build → deploymentGuide engineering teams and DevOps squads, ensuring high-quality technical deliveryEngage senior stakeholders across secure public sector programmesMentor technical teams and champion engineering best practiceWhat You BringA strong blend of architecture, cloud engineering and DevOps experience — with the confidence to lead from the front while remaining hands-on.Technical Strengths We're Keen to See: Deep understanding of on-prem infrastructure, including VMware and secure/air-gapped environmentsCloud expertise across Azure, AWS or GCPStrong experience with Kubernetes platforms (AKS, OpenShift or upstream Kubernetes, Google Kubernetes Engine, GKE)Solid grounding in automation, IaC, CI/CD, orchestration and pipeline toolingExperience with service mesh, observability and monitoring (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus)Knowledge of Zero-Trust architectures, landing zones, governance, tagging and cost optimisationExperience with event-driven architecture and modern integration patternsIdentity and Access Management (IAM) and similar Devops.Leadership & DeliveryAble to lead multi-site engineering teams and DevOps squadsProven track record delivering complex, secure and technically demanding solutionsStrong communication skills with the ability to present to mixed technical audiencesSkilled stakeholder manager, comfortable influencing at senior levelsClearanceActive SC Clearance requiredWhy This Role?You'll work on high-impact, high-security programmes where your architecture and engineering expertise directly shape operational outcomes.
