The HVDC Research & Development Departments are at the forefront of worldwide innovation in HVDC and are expanding rapidly.Job DescriptionManufacturing Test TechnicianLocation: Stafford HVDC valves manufacturingReports To: Manufacturing LeaderThis is a role where safety is critical in a fast-paced environment and sound decision making within the SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) framework will be required. The Technician will ensure all health and safety requirements are upheld, company policies, procedures and legal regulations are strictly followed.They are responsible for conducting tests on products, systems, or components to ensure they meet specified performance criteria and quality standards. The Technician will operate the automated test equipment and achieve production targets through test.This role involves setting up and operating test equipment, documenting findings, reporting defects, and working closely with production teams to address quality issues.Though previous experience in a test environment is desirable training will be provided to the right candidate.If you can demonstrate high energy, be a team player with a can-do spirit, be detail orientated, and want to have influence on business outcomes we want to hear from you.ResponsibilitiesTest Setup and Execution:Follow mandatory electrical safety procedures when conducting tests in line with GE Vernova policies and proceduresPrepare and calibrate test equipment and instrumentation in readiness for testingUse automated test equipmentSupport customer witnessed testingFault analysis:Interpret electrical drawings/schematics and failure modes to fault findWork with engineering and production teams to resolve problemsDocumentation:Maintain records of test procedures, results, and equipment calibration as per company policyTest equipment maintenanceSupport all test equipment within manufacturing during operation and maintenanceCarry out daily maintenance on the test equipment including the cooling plantContinuous Improvement:Contribute to the development and improvement of testing methodologiesParticipate in training and development activities to enhance technical skillsQualifications/ExperienceNVQ level 2 or equivalent in electrical safety/ electrical installation or demonstratable years of experienceDesirable: 3 + years' experience working with electrical systems/productsDesirable: Experience in a production test environment but training will be providedDesirable: Experience with automated testing systemsSkillsSafety first and detail orientatedGood verbal communicationGood documentation skills both handwritten and via PCAbility to work independently and as part of a teamGood problem-solving skillsCan prioritise and work to deadlines without sacrificing safety and qualityBehavioursSelf-motivated, proactive and results drivenWillingness to learn and develop their skills and knowledge in line with company requirementsWorking ConditionsThe work is shift based with rotation and 5 days onsiteOvertime/weekend working may be necessary to support productionThis position will require standing for extended periods on the production floor.Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn and will be provided depending on the work setting.Will require lifting, carrying, and moving of materials and equipment.Occasional travel might be necessary to support at project sites.We are welcoming applicants from various backgrounds and environments, as full training will be provided to the right candidate, including internal and external training and schooling opportunities for further development.This role is part of wider assembly flow and Test Technicians role is to work alongside main operation, carrying out testing.Why We Come To WorkAt GE Renewable Energy, our engineers are always up for the challenge - and we're always driven to find the best solution.
