Responsibilities:As a HGV Mechanic:Maintenance and RepairCarry out the routine maintenance and repair of plant, equipment and light commercial vehicles operated by Derby City Council at Stores Road depot or any other site nominated.All maintenance undertaken is to comply with the standards set out in VOSA's 'Guide to Roadworthiness' and all Operator Licence stipulations.Bring to the attention of the Workshop Manager or Lead Mechanic any indication of driver/operator damage noted during routine servicing and inspection, preparing written reports if required.Emergency RepairsAttend promptly to vehicle and plant breakdowns involving taking out a replacement vehicle or item of plant, repairing defective vehicles or plant on site and arranging the return of it to the depot.Vehicle/Plant RepairsCarry out body repairs and fabrication involving the use of welding and cutting equipment for example manufacture new and replacement parts, carry out refurbishment and modification work.
