Job DescriptionRole: Junior Law Costs DraftsmenA Legal 500 law firm and one of the UK's largest provider of Legal Aid services are seeking Junior Law Costs Draftsmen to join their established Billing and Costs Department, which comprises of 30 staff based in City of London.Gemini Recruitment are currently partnering with a large and established law firm. Our client serves corporate entities and private individuals in over 25 practice areas from offices throughout London and across England and Wales.  Our client’s accomplishments are acknowledged and recommended in The Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners, as a top tier firm.Main Responsibilities of the Role:\tReport directly to Manager\tDrafting/ preparing inter parties bills of costs, costs budgets; and points of reply/dispute\tDrafting inter parties bills with Legal Aid element\tDrafting Claim1’s, 1a’s and VHCC/HCCP case\tDrafting of estimates of costs to accompany Allocation Questionnaires and Pre-Trial Checklists.\tNegotiations of Bills including attendance at CCMC’s\tOverseeing the Issuing of the Notice of Commencement and associated documents\tWorking to deadlines\tAttendance upon Detailed Assessment Hearing as and when necessary\tProviding technical / costs guidance to fee earners where required\tAssist members of the team to complete post –assessment work, with training and ad hoc queries\tMaintaining accurate time costing procedures\tImplementing any recommendations made by your supervisor following monthly meetings ensuring that these are dealt with promptly\tEnsuring compliance with file managementKey Skills Required:\tGood attention to detail\tAble to draft legal costs documents and budgets\tStrong communication, teamwork, and numerical skills.\tSelf-motivated with the ability to work to tight deadlines\tAbility to risk assess\tAbility to provide sound advice to client’s\tStrong legal knowledge, especially in Legal Aid and Part 8 procedure\tProactive, willing to learn, and use initiative\tExcellent IT skills with ability to process information using relevant software (databases, spreadsheet packages).\tSkilled in Microsoft Office; Costs Master experience is a plus\tPrevious experience on billing claims to the LAA will be essential.On offer is a competitive salary, real opportunities for progression and a supportive team environment.Note: By applying to this vacancy you give Gemini Recruitment Services Limited permission to submit your CV to the hiring company.
