Over the course of the next 12 months, Acoustofab intends to raise venture funding to significantly accelerate growth Role Overview Here at AcoustoFab, we're seeking a Hardware Engineer with a strong background in electronic circuit design, PCB layout, and system testing. The ideal candidate will be comfortable taking designs from concept through certification, ensuring compliance with CE and FCC standards. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, prototype, and validate innovative hardware systems, as well as develop supporting test boards, tools, and documentation. Key Responsibilities Design, prototype, and validate electronic circuits and PCBs for embedded systems and related hardware products. Ensure designs comply with relevant certification standards, such as CE and FCC. Develop test boards, test systems, and procedures for validation, production, and certification testing. Create and maintain schematics, layout files, and documentation throughout the design lifecycle. Perform circuit and system-level simulations to verify performance before fabrication. Support bring-up, debugging, and performance tuning of new hardware designs. Collaborate with firmware and software engineers for hardware–firmware integration. Manage design revisions, manufacturing files, and BOMs in alignment with company processes. Collaborate closely with hardware engineers and experimentalists to validate simulations and algorithms in real-world setups. Support IP generation through novel algorithm development and technical documentation. Stay current with academic and industry advances in computational imaging, graphics, and acoustics to inspire new directions for the team. Communicate technical concepts clearly within a multidisciplinary team, including providing input into software architecture, research planning, and technical demos. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Equivalent industry or research experience are also considered. Technical Skills: Three or more years of experience in hardware design, testing, and certification. Strong understanding of analogue and digital circuit design principles. Experience designing to CE/FCC compliance standards (e.g., EMC/EMI considerations, grounding, shielding). Proficiency with major PCB design tools, including Altium Designer, KiCad, Cadence Allegro/OrCAD, and EAGLE. Experience with electrical and circuit simulation tools, such as LTSpice, QSpice, Multisim, and Simulink (for system-level modelling). Ability to design and document test boards, fixtures, and automated test setups. Experience with oscilloscopes, logic analysers, spectrum analysers, and other lab equipment. Familiarity with microcontroller programming and debugging, using C/C++, Arduino framework, MicroPython. Experience with FPGA design and VHDL/Verilog programming. Experience designing for high-speed digital signals, mixed-signal systems, and power electronics. Preferred Skills: Knowledge of embedded system integration, including sensors, communication interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet), and wireless modules. Experience with manufacturing processes, DFM/DFT, and hardware validation. Strong documentation and organisational skills for maintaining traceable design records and test results. Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and follow through on technical challenges without waiting for detailed direction. Hands-on and experimental mindset to move quickly from idea to prototype. Clear communicator, able to collaborate with both technical and non-technical team members.
