Job DescriptionOur client, responsible for maintaining one of Londons most prominent and historic waterfront estates, is currently seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to support the upkeep of essential mechanical systems across the site in East London.Responsibilities:Undertake both scheduled and reactive maintenance tasks across a variety of estate infrastructure, such as bridges, lock gates, pumping stations, sewage systems, and estate buildings.Carry out system inspections and identify faults, with particular attention to hydraulics and other critical mechanical systems.Promptly escalate any faults, equipment failures, or irregularities to your supervisor or manager.Provide hands-on mechanical support to diagnose issues, carry out repairs, and help restore systems to full operation as quickly as possible.Take responsibility for identifying and ordering replacement parts to support timely repairs.Keep clear and accurate records of maintenance work to support audit requirements and ensure legal compliance.Contribute to a safe working environment by adhering to Health & Safety policies and participating in risk assessments and method statements.Participate in a call-out rota for emergency repairs and out-of-hours maintenance coverage.Support the wider maintenance team as needed, including tasks outside the immediate mechanical scope, where appropriate.Required Experience & Skills:Minimum 35 years of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance, ideally within infrastructure, marine, or facilities environments.Solid working knowledge of hydraulic systems, pumps, motors, and associated controls.Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair complex mechanical faults independently.Experience maintaining large movable structures (e.g., bridges, gates, or heavy plant) is highly desirable.Familiarity with CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems) and basic reporting tools.Strong understanding of workplace health and safety practices.Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and within a team.Full UK driving license is desirable.Benefits:25 days plus bank holidays5% annual bonusPensionLife AssuranceJBRP1_UKTJ
