Job DescriptionA well-established, award-winning landscape and environmental practice is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Ecologist to join its growing ecology team in the New Year. This consultancy delivers a wide range of high-quality projects across residential, commercial, infrastructure and green-infrastructure sectors, offering an excellent opportunity for an early-career ecologist to develop professionally within a supportive, collaborative environment.Whilst working as an Assistant Ecologist; Support senior team members with ecological surveys, including bats, great crested newts, reptiles and habitat assessmentsAssist with reporting, data management and GIS mappingCarry out desk studies, fieldwork preparation and site visitsContribute to habitat creation, enhancement and biodiversity-led design projectsHelp maintain strong client relationships through clear communication and reliable project delivery The successful candidate will;Hold a degree in Ecology, Environmental Science or a related disciplineHave some experience of ecological survey work (through employment, volunteering or placements)Possess strong written and verbal communication skillsBe organised, adaptable and willing to learnHold a full UK driving licence and be comfortable with travel to survey sitesBenefits;A competitive salary with annual progression reviewsHybrid and flexible working arrangementsPaid professional membershipsStructured training and mentorship from experienced ecologistsSupport towards protected species licencesOpportunities for rapid progression within a growing teamA friendly, multidisciplinary working environment with a strong focus on wellbeing and work-life balanceThis position is ideal for someone looking to build a solid foundation in consultancy ecology while working alongside experienced ecologists, landscape architects and environmental specialists
