Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity SurveyorLocation: London (hybrid working available)Sector: Energy & Utilities InfrastructureEmployment Type: Permanent, Full-TimeOverview This role offers the opportunity to support and lead the commercial delivery of critical energy and utilities infrastructure projects. Whether you're a seasoned Quantity Surveyor or operating at Senior level, you'll bring robust cost management skills, an understanding of infrastructure delivery, and the ability to communicate clearly with clients and multidisciplinary teams.Projects span the regulated utilities space - covering water, power, fibre, and gas - and often involve complex stakeholder environments, tight urban constraints, and increasing scrutiny around value for money.Key ResponsibilitiesPre-Contract and Cost PlanningDevelop detailed cost plans, feasibility studies, and budgetsProvide benchmarking analysis and value engineering inputDeliver cost advice aligned with evolving design and project objectivesProcurement and TenderingProduce bills of quantities, pricing schedules, and tender documentationManage end-to-end tender processes, including evaluation and negotiationsAdvise on suitable procurement and contract strategiesPost-Contract Commercial ManagementAdminister valuations, process payments, and manage change controlPrepare and present cost reports, forecasts, and financial statementsNegotiate variations, claims, and final accountsClient and Team CollaborationAttend client meetings and present commercial updatesEngage with project managers, designers, and engineers to ensure aligned deliveryMaintain strong client relationships with a focus on long-term outcomesRisk and ComplianceIdentify and advise on commercial and contractual risksEnsure adherence to NEC contracts, internal procedures, and statutory regulationsContribute to dispute avoidance and resolution processesCandidate ProfileEssential Skills and ExperienceDegree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or related disciplineSolid understanding of NEC contracts and infrastructure procurementProficient in software tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and CostXDemonstrated experience delivering infrastructure projects within regulated environments (water, gas, fibre, power)Ability to work across multiple projects and deadlinesDesirable AttributesChartered or working towards RICS accreditationStrong negotiation and stakeholder management capabilityFamiliarity with UK SHEQ and regulatory requirements in infrastructureCommercial insight into large-scale infrastructure funding and delivery modelsWork EnvironmentThis is a hybrid role with a London base, incorporating flexibility across client sites, home, and office working.
