Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced and caring individual who is passionate about working with children and committed to providing high-quality before and after School or Nursery care for our pupils, as well as running our fun-centred holiday club for 2 to 5-year-olds.  The post holder leads a team of early years practitioners and playworkers who create a warm, engaging space where children can learn, thrive and play. Our wrap-around provision consists of: After School Club for both Nursery and Junior School pupils An After School Activities Programme (mostly for P3-6) Early Birds Club (from 8am – 8.30am)Nursery Holiday Club (2 to 5-year-olds) outside of term timeThis is a full-time, full-year post and would be ideal for an organised and proactive early years practitioner, or someone with similar experience. The successful candidate must be registered either with SSSC or GTCS. There will be an element of ‘hands on’ childcare when the children are in the service. The post is available from February 2026 and is offered on a full-time basis.  Typical hours of attendance will be 10am – 6pm, however there will be some flexibility with this in Holiday Club periods.  We plan to interview for this post in the week commencing 15th December 2025.Main Responsibilities: The following makes up the key elements of the job, but this is not an exhaustive list of all tasks.Leadership and Management: Lead the daily running of the wrap-around care sessions, ensuring smooth operation and high-quality provision for each part of the serviceLine-manage staff, including organising rotas for each part of the service, identifying and organising training requirements, submitting timesheets and approving annual leave requestsEnsure appropriate staffing levels, and work with HR to recruit new team members when requiredEstablish and maintain an efficient pupil register, and work with Finance to ensure timely and accurate billingEnsure all third-party suppliers are appropriately vetted with user-service agreements in place Ensure prompt and effective communication with parents, including responding to ad hoc change requests and concernsAdministration: Ensure sessions and activities are uploaded to ‘School Cloud’ to allow parents to view and pick sessions and activitiesProduce class lists for practitioners and playworkers, as well as any external suppliers running activitiesProvide up-to-date pupil and activity lists to teaching and nursery staff to ensure they know which children are due to attend wrap-around care and who is due to be collected at what timeChildcare and Activity Planning: Plan and deliver a broad range of stimulating, age-appropriate activities for each part of the service, liaising with teaching staff as requiredEnsure resources are used appropriately and replenished where required, working within the set budgetProvide a welcoming, nurturing and supportive environment where all children feel safe and valuedEnsure safe supervision of children with appropriate staffing ratiosProvide healthy snacks and ensure good hygiene practices Safeguarding and Compliance:Ensure all staff follow school safeguarding policies at all timesEnsure compliance with health and safety, food hygiene, first aid and statutory requirements Conduct regular risk assessments and address any hazards or complaints promptlyAdminister first aid when required (training will be provided if needed)Ideal Candidate: The successful post holder will be:  Well organised and adaptable  Able to build a rapport with young children, team members and parents  Enjoy working as part of a team but also able to work under own initiative  Patient and sensitive  Able to stay calm in challenging situations   Diplomatic.  Use good judgement to make positive, quick decisions when necessary  Discreet and ensure confidentiality is protected  A great communicatorQualifications and Experience E = Essential D= Desirable  SVQ (L3) Early Years Practitioner qualification or equivalent (E)  Registered or eligible for registration with the SSSC or GTCS (E) Experience of managing, leading or supervising staff teams (E) Experience working with young children in a play, care or educational setting (E)  Proficient in use of IT (E) A knowledge of First Aid, Food Hygiene and Child Protection Training (D) Experience of managing a budget and resourcing a setting (D)  Package Description: The school prides itself on its warm and welcoming community, inclusive of all staff.  Our teaching staff work alongside the operational teams to ensure the smooth running of the school.  We value the contribution of all team members. Through involvement in the co-curricular programme all those who work with us can bring their passions to work.
