Job DescriptionSenior Power Supply Design EngineerLocation: London, UKEmployment Type: Full-time, PermanentAbout the Role:We are seeking an experienced Senior Power Supply Design Engineer to join our client, a London-based R&D company who develop high-voltage DC/DC and AC/DC converters for demanding industrial and technology applications. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, development, and validation of switch-mode power supplies (SMPS), from concept through to production.As an experienced Senior Power Supply Design Engineer, you will work closely with a cross-functional engineering team covering electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing disciplines to deliver innovative, reliable, and efficient power conversion solutions.Key Responsibilities: * Lead the design and development of isolated and non-isolated DC/DC and AC/DC converters, including topologies such as LLC, Flyback, Forward, Half-Bridge, and Full-Bridge. * Perform detailed circuit design, simulation, and analysis for power stages, control loops, and protection circuitry. * Carry out component selection (magnetics, semiconductors, capacitors, etc.) to optimise performance, reliability, and cost. * Support the development of schematics, PCB layouts, and EMI/thermal design considerations. * Conduct design validation, testing, and troubleshooting of prototype and production units. * Collaborate with manufacturing and test teams to ensure DFM/DFT compliance and robust volume production. * Generate and maintain technical documentation, including design reports, test plans, and user manuals. * Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers within the team.Requirements: * Degree (BEng/MEng) in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (or equivalent). * 7+ years of experience in switch-mode power supply design (SMPS). * Proven track record in designing DC/DC and AC/DC converters in the 100 W – 5 kW range (or higher). * Strong understanding of control theory, magnetics, EMC/EMI compliance, and thermal design. * Experience with SPICE-based simulation tools and design for safety standards (EN/UL/IEC). * Familiarity with SiC or GaN devices is advantageous. * Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.Why Join: * Work on next-generation high-efficiency power conversion technologies. * Join a collaborative, technically-driven environment that values innovation. * Competitive salary, bonus scheme, and professional development opportunities.If this Senior Power Supply Design Engineer opportunity is of interest, then please apply with an up-to-date CV and contact information
