Job DescriptionJob SummaryLaw Trucks, an independent used vehicle specialist with over 30 years' experience in truck trading.We have an opportunity available for an experienced HGV Chassis Engineer. We are seeking an individual who thrives in a forward-thinking working environment, completing scheduled targets, to join our dynamic teamIf you enjoy a variation in work and not the same day in day out routine, this could be the one for you The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in mechanical knowledge and be proficient in various engineering tasks.ResponsibilitiesWheelbase Alterations:Extending or shortening the wheelbase of a vehicle to optimize weight distribution or manoeuvrability.Axle Configuration:Repositioning axles, adding or removing axles, and adjusting axle weight distribution to meet operational requirements.Component Integration:Ensuring proper installation of various chassis components, including suspension systems, braking systems, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems.Removing Existing Bodies and refitting to alternative chassis' - changing subframes to suit and welding crossmembers in place where neededInstallation of PTO systems to a range of trucksProblem Solving:Diagnosing and resolving chassis-related issues, including structural weaknesses, mechanical failures, and electrical malfunctionsWelding experience is essential for this role to be able to fabricate and install made to measure partsBasic mechanical experience is also essential, understanding of the air and brake system of a truckExperienceProven experience in engineering roles, preferably within a related industry.Experience using Forklift trucks to move parts and panels into placeDemonstrated ability to analyse complex problems and develop practical solutions through effective root cause analysis techniques.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey technical information clearly to diverse audiences.
