Senior MES Automation Engineer:A leading pharmaceutical organisation, operating at the forefront of industrial automation and digital manufacturing, is currently seeking a Senior MES Automation Engineer to join its UK-based team on a 12-month contract.This is a hybrid contract role offering a balance between remote work and on-site presence, ideal for an experienced professional looking to take ownership of complex MES initiatives within a regulated pharmaceutical environment.Key Responsibilities:Lead the design, implementation, and support of MES solutions across manufacturing sites.Define MES architectures in line with ISA-95 / ISA-88 standards.Configure and customise MES platforms to support production, quality, traceability, and performance.Integrate MES with PLC/SCADA systems, historians, and enterprise systems (ERP, databases).Act as a senior technical authority for IT/OT integration and data flows.Support commissioning, testing (FAT/SAT), and go-live activities.Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.Contribute to project planning, estimations, and technical decision-making.Required Experience:Strong experience in a senior MES and/or automation engineering role.Hands-on experience with MES platforms such as Siemens Opcenter, Rockwell FactoryTalk, Werum PAS-X, Apriso, Ignition, or similar.Solid background in industrial automation (PLC, SCADA, HMI).Experience with systems integration and SQL/databases.If you are interested in this position - please apply directly or send your updated CV to d.jones@x4lifesciences.com
