The site is easily accessible from Dagenham, Erith, Barking, Wanstead, Walthamstow, Woolwich, Greenwich, Dartford, Sidcup, London, Bromley, Sevenoaks, Chingford, Waltham Cross, Hackney and the surrounding areas.Our Linford Plant manufactures sustainable, tough and energy efficient aerated blocks that we see all around us, whether this be in our homes or our work environments, you are never too far away from one of our products.Here at Tarmac, we are working hard to create a dynamic and inclusive environment and it's important that our people come from a variety of different backgrounds.Main ResponsibilitiesAs our Automation and Controls PLC Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining our site programmable logic controller (PLC) systems. You will work closely with the production and maintenance teams to troubleshoot issues, implement process improvements, and ensure seamless operation of automated systems and project engineering work.Your responsibilities will include (not exhaustive):Design and develop PLC programs for new and existing systemsTroubleshoot and resolve issues related to PLC hardware and softwareCollaborate with production and engineering teams to implement system enhancementsConduct routine maintenance and updates to PLC systemsOptimise PLC performance to improve manufacturing efficiency and reliabilityOwn and lead the implementation of a Risk Based Assessment programme for all PLC systems on site to include current assets and future upgradesEnsure management of change practices are followed for all modifications, upgrades or project work to PLC related systems on siteHave a proven track record of successful people management, management of engineering operations, delivering large scale CAPEX projects and managing large budgetsPromoting the maintenance management system, ensuring the application of maintenance procedures, methods and best practicesAssisting the Engineering department in achieving its budget targets through the efficient use of materials and replacement partsDevelop and improve the knowledge and skills of engineers, fitters and apprentices by providing training and support on PLC systems and functionalitiesInvolvement with maintaining Health and Safety rules and regulations and ensure all Safe Systems of Work are signed off and complied with leading towards a target of zero harm for personnel and contractorsLead in resolving complex technical issues or failures as they ariseContinuous review of plant availability and performance, Identifying gaps, root causes and subsequent improvement activityThe Ideal CandidateThe successful applicant in the role of Automation and Controls PLC Engineer will be instrumental in the future development and support of our culture to achieve the benefits available through development strategies.
