We have an exciting opportunity to join our growing D&O and FI team as an Underwriter In this role, you will take ownership and accountability for key pieces of business and key broker relationships, both regionally/internationally and within the London Market. Working within an experienced team, this role is suited for those wanting autonomy to develop and underwrite their own book of business, while playing an integral part in the growth of the D&O and FI portfolio.The role involves working within underwriting parameters and authority levels to foster new and existing broker relationships by delivering high-quality underwriting and servicing for both renewal and new business. As part of a fast-growing MGA, we are focused on delivering tailored solutions to SME and mid-market companies.Who we are:Fast Growing MGA, with over 15 years of Financial Lines experience,We are experts in our niche sectors and understand the risks,Our teams are empowered to make decisions and react faster,A flexible approach to underwriting allows us to offer tailored and more sustainable solutions,Capacity backing with a strong financial ratingResponsibilities:Underwriting & Risk Assessment Underwrite and negotiate D&O and FI accounts, ensuring consistency with the quality of risk, aligned with the company's strategy, and within individual underwriting authority.Business DevelopmentDrive new business and maintain strong broker relationships by writing new and renewal business in line with agreed targets for Gross Written Premium (GWP).Portfolio OwnershipTake accountability for underwriting decisions and own the development and profitability of your book of business.Relationship ManagementDevelop and maintain close, effective relationships with brokers, insurers, and clients, including travel and client entertainment where necessary.Client MeetingsEncourage reciprocal visits from brokers and customers, actively participating in meetings and taking a lead role where appropriate.Compliance Ensure all underwriting activity complies with relevant legislation, underwriting agreements, and industry best practices.Market Awareness:Stay informed about market conditions, especially in the SME and mid-market segments for D&O and FI lines.Experience:2+ years of underwriting experience in D&O and Financial Institutions, with a proven track record in managing complex risks.Experience working with SME and mid-market companies.Leadership experience or experience in mentoring and developing junior underwriters is preferred.Strong relationships with key brokers, with a proven ability to source new business and manage a portfolio effectively.Excellent understanding of D&O and FI products, including regulatory requirements and corporate governance.Ability to analyse financial statements and corporate structures to assess risk.By submitting your CV you confirm that you are agreeing to the Privacy Policy of Nexus Underwriting and consenting to Nexus Underwriting processing and holding your personal details.
