McCann Manchester is a big family - the largest integrated agency in the UK in fact.We work with some of the UK's most interesting brands and we're looking for a Building and Grounds Maintenance Assistant to come and join us. Armbands optional.The Part You'll Play as a Building and Grounds Maintenance Assistant...You'll assist with general maintenance tasks and minor repairs on both a reactive and planned preventative basis, across our extensive grounds and office buildings.Key responsibilities include assisting with basic building maintenance tasks, lawn care, pruning, planting, garden waste removal and general grounds maintenance. This role requires physical stamina, operating various tools and machinery, adherence to health and safety regulations, and effective communication with colleagues.Please note, to ensure adequate cover and support, the hours of work for this role are 7am to 3pm, Monday to Friday, with some potential out of hours work. There may be some requirements to work different shift patterns while occasionally covering for the wider team.Grounds Maintenance DutiesUnder the direction of the Senior Gardener, undertake:Mowing, strimming and fertilizing lawnsPruning hedges, shrubs and treesPlanting flowers, trees and shrubs, and managing flower bedsWeeding and general garden maintenanceIrrigation system maintenance and repairCover for Head Gardener and Apprentice Gardener during planned / unplanned absenceBuilding Maintenance DutiesUnder the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, undertake:Ensure electrical issues are dealt with such as changing bulbs, checking cross-phasing, use of extension leaders and monitor PATFollow maintenance schedules for all sites, including preventive maintenance planning where applicable.Carry out minor joinery workCarry out minor electrical workCarry out minor maintenance and temperature adjustments for air conditioning unitsMaintain and monitor heating boilersCarry out property upkeep ensuring roofs and gutters are inspected and cleaned regularlyMaintain the swimming pool, ensure COSHH compliance and keep appropriate recordsReport any pest issuesAssist in office movesAssist with health and safety notices, audits and fire marshallingEnsuring compliance with safety regulations in reporting potential hazardCover for Maintenance Supervisor during planned/unplanned absenceBe available for out of hours workFacilitate best business practice to improve services providedCheck kitchens, maintain coffee machine, work with Bistro to stock and replenish sundry items, check fridges and dishwashersCollection of all recycling across the agency adhering to Green Policy guidelines on a regular basisAs a Maintenance Assistant You'll Bring...Must HavePhysical ability to carry out manual tasks and demanding labour as detailed above, such as manual handling requirements, often outdoors in various weather conditionsAbility to operate machinery and tools, and perform basic repairs on buildings and groundsCompetent in the use of ITA strong understanding of, and adherence to, health and safety regulations, including safe use of chemicals and equipmentAbility to understand written and verbal instructions, with clear and effective communication with supervisors, colleagues and contractorsFriendly and proactive, with a customer service oriented focusAttention to detail in tasks such as planting, maintenance, and inspections to ensure high standards are metAbility to identify and resolve issues relating to grounds and facilities maintenance.Full driving licence as there may be some travel between sitesNice To HavePrevious experience of working in a facilities environment is highly desirableTraining and qualifications in Pool Plant Maintenance, Health and Safety (IOSH), First Aid at Work, and Fire Marshal are all requirements of this role – training will be provided by the company if they are not already heldAs a Maintenance Assistant You'll Have Access To...A competitive financial and benefits package and a culture ideally suited to those who enjoy pursuing personal career development.The opportunity to work within the largest integrated agency in the UK, in stunning surroundings, with specialist departments including, animation, video production, planning, digital creative and development and social media.An outstanding working environment that really is hard to beat.
