As a strategically important area with ambitious growth plans, we're building a team of exceptional engineers who can deliver complex, high-value installations across the UK.We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to take ownership of end-to-end LPG infrastructure projects from concept through to commissioning. This is more than project delivery—it's a vital role where you can shape how we execute projects and directly contribute to our growth in the evolving energy landscape.The OpportunityAs Project Engineer, you will combine technical excellence with commercial acumen, managing LPG installations in different sectors from aggregates to distilleries, supporting businesses to transition to greener fuel.You'll work directly with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities, serving as the technical expert throughout project lifecycles while ensuring absolute compliance with safety standards.What You'll Be DoingLead end-to-end project delivery with full ownership of planning, scheduling, and budget managementDesign technical solutions including functional specifications, engineering drawings, and calculations (pressure drops, storage sizing, venting)Ensure regulatory compliance with IGEM/UP Codes of Practice, GSIUR, BS EN standards, and building regulationsProvide on-site engineering authority during construction, installation, and commissioning phasesManage stakeholder relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodiesLead safety reviews including HAZOP, HAZID, and risk assessments throughout project developmentSupport business growth by providing technical expertise for proposals, tenders, and feasibility studies.What We're Looking ForEssential3+ years project engineering experience in LPG, Industrial Gases, Oil & Gas, or related energy sectorsStrong knowledge of LPG system design, storage, and distribution infrastructureIn-depth understanding of IGEM/UP Codes of Practice (UP/1, UP/2, UP/10, UP/16) and UK LPG regulationsProficiency in 2D AutoCAD and ability to interpret/create P&IDs and technical schematicsProject management qualification (Prince2, APM, PMI, or equivalent)Excellent communication skills with ability to translate technical information for diverse audiencesFull UK driving licence (national site travel required)Highly DesirableBachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Process EngineeringHealth & safety certifications (NEBOSH, IOSH Managing Safely)ATEX/DSEAR compliance and hazardous area classification knowledgeExperience in commercial/industrial LPG environments (energy centres, fuel depots, manufacturing)Working towards or holding professional registration (IEng, CEng)Why Join AvantiGas?Competitive salary package reflecting your technical expertise, plus performance-based bonusComprehensive benefits: enhanced pension contribution, private healthcare, life assuranceProfessional development investment: Chartership support, industry certifications, training budgetFlexibility: home-based role with autonomy over your schedule between site visitsMeaningful impact: deliver critical energy infrastructure supporting UK businesses and the energy transitionCollaborative culture: join a technically excellent team within a growing, strategically important functionAbout AvantiGasPart of UGI International, AvantiGas is a leading UK LPG distributor committed to delivering safe and efficient energy solutions.
