You'll follow RoSPA and Southwark Council procedures to stop traffic safely, give clear instructions, and keep an eye on site conditions, reporting any incidents or defective street furniture promptly. You'll use the provided PPE correctly, conduct dynamic risk assessments, and work closely with the School and the School Crossing Patrol Manager to keep everyone safe.Training (including safeguarding and conflict management) is provided.Hours: 10 per week during term time, typically 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon (windows usually between 07:45–09:30 and 14:45–16:30). Job share considered where practical.Salary£7,171 per annum, pro-rata pay for 10 hours/week over 45.06 weeks on a £29,808 salary based on a 36-hour full-time week.What We're Looking For Calm, reliable people who enjoy helping others and can communicate clearly with both children and adults. A good understanding of road safety and a strong focus on safeguarding children and vulnerable people (training provided). Able to work independently, stay patient under pressure, and operate outdoors in all weather while standing for the shift and carrying the crossing sign. Experience dealing with the public is helpful, but full training and uniform are providedAdditional Information Schedule: Monday–Friday during term time; typically 1 hour a.m. and 1 hour p.m. (between approx. 07:45–09:30 and 14:45–16:30). Contract: Permanent, term-time only. Job share considered. Pay: £7,171 per annum, pro-rata for 10 hours/week over 45.06 weeks based on a £29,808 FTE (36-hour week). Paid in twelve equal monthly instalments. Holiday: Pro-rata, leave to be taken outside term time. Training & Equipment: Full training (including safeguarding/conflict management) and uniform/PPE provided. Safeguarding & Checks: This is a safeguarding role requiring an Enhanced DBS and five years of references. Location: You may be required to work at any site across the borough as service needs demand.
