Job DescriptionThe CompanyA long-established, privately owned main contractor with a strong regional presence across the North of England is seeking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor for its Northeast operations.The business delivers high-quality schemes across Industrial, Logistics, Commercial and Residential sectors, working with repeat clients and operating with a long-term, relationship-led approach. Known for its stability, strong leadership and investment in people, this contractor offers a professional but supportive working environment with genuine career progression.The RoleAs Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role within the regional Commercial team, working closely with project delivery teams to ensure robust commercial control from pre-construction through to final account.Reporting directly to the Regional Commercial Manager, you will take ownership of one or multiple projects depending on size and complexity, acting as the commercial lead and supporting the wider commercial strategy for the region.This role will involve a mix of site-based and office-based work, providing exposure to live projects and senior stakeholders.Key ResponsibilitiesFull commercial management of projects from procurement to final accountPreparation, management and negotiation of subcontract packagesAdministration of contracts under NEC and JCT frameworksMonthly cost reporting, forecasting and earned value analysisManagement of valuations, variations, certificates and accrualsSupporting project teams to achieve commercial and programme targetsEnsuring compliance with company procedures and commercial best practiceBuilding and maintaining strong relationships with clients and supply chainAbout YouExperience & SkillsProven experience as a Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor with a Main ContractorStrong understanding of JCT and NEC contractsSound knowledge of construction law and commercial risk managementExperience working on multi-disciplinary construction projectsConfident managing subcontractors and commercial reporting processesStrong IT and reporting skillsPersonal AttributesCommercially astute and detail-drivenStrong communicator with the ability to influence stakeholdersOrganised and able to manage multiple workstreamsTeam-focused with a collaborative working styleProactive, professional and delivery-focusedWhat's On OfferSalary up to £75,000 + packageCar allowance, pension and private healthcareEnhanced annual leave and flexible benefitsStrong pipeline of secured regional workClear progression routes toward Managing QS / Commercial ManagerSupportive culture with long-term career stability
